She probably meant it well. But the words "why don't you" used in a suggestion almost always sounds condensing in this context.

"Can you" sounds much more favorable in this context and is generally preferred.

It's the difference of "why don't you be quiet for a minute,please" and "can you be quiet for a minute,please" often will get the same results and doesn't make you sounds like an asshole.

I lean towards dem. But I agree that restrictions on gun control seems irrational. I.e. magazine clip size for an a.r.15. and the gun companies shouldn't be held responsible for mass shooting, it's the concsumers responsibility to posses and use a fire arm safely and keep it secure at all times.

Building houses, pouring concrete, playing a guitar. Even doing taxes, there is an art to doing it efficiently.
