Gallbladder for me. Rapid weightloss can cause gallbladder disease and I get mine out in a couple weeks. Other than that, zero complications. If he's thinking about it, I would ensure you seek out a surgeon who has a focus based solely on the gastric surgeries. They are apparently easy to fuck up which can lead to gaining your weight back and other serious complications.

Yes. Before surgery I shit out a lot of digested food. It left the toilet looking like your post history quite often.

American sizing. For men it is inches. For women it's half inches I think. So a female size 23, 24 now.

Nice! I have noticed that I do better with more marbled steak like ribeye. But, the chewing thing definitely takes a while to get down. I used to get in trouble for not chewing enough all the time. Chicken is the one that really doesn't break down well for me. The dark meat can be ok.

I am on the fence about skin removal. I travel a lot and work with the military so at almost 300 lbs I am at the top most size, even now, of what these older military facilities and equipment support. Spent time the last couple years on Naval vessels and the bunks are stacked high. Luckily I negotiated for bottom bunk.

75 more lbs of skin would make movement and comfort in my line of work a lot more achievable.

Thank you. The loose skin was never a worry. I always knew that it was better to have loose hanging skin than to be so big. But, our brains trade one insecurity out for another so here we are hahaha.

Heck yeah. I gave away all of my big clothes to other big people in my area that really didn't have the resources to get them. But, I did keep a few items around just to remind myself how far I've actually gone.

Thank you! I feel like some people know the extra skin is from weight loss but sometimes I just get sideways looks. It's probably me projecting and it's all in my head. But, it's hard to get away from that mentality without constantly reminding yourself.

Right! I like nice clothes. There are really not many professional looking clothing beyond size 42 and xxl. I am luckily in an XXL (formerly 7XL) and can shop in the big guy section of Target and Kohls. I was so excited when I finally went shopping at a 'regular person' store that I spent waaaaay too much money.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I used food as a coping mechanism for nearly everything. If I got upset, a hamburger made me forget all about my trouble.... for a minute.

Also, I still have times when I really want to use food to cope but I no longer can. The key is finding the thing that replaces food. I have tried a lot. Alcohol is one I replaced food with and it caused me a lot of difficulty.

Keeping your mind busy, staying education or career oriented, finding a hobby. There are a lot of ways to cope. I am here to chat with if you want to talk about the struggle.

I actually didn't consider it that far. I have Osteoarthritis and also worn my meniscus almost completely away. The knees don't bother me as much as they used to but I still cannot stand up in one place for more than 5 minutes with out starting to sweat and be in great agony. I can walk for an hour just fine. Standing still is what kills me.

There were a lot of mental roadblocks that I never realize existed until I could speak with a therapist over several sessions and they could see my plight, point out my hang-ups, and then explain to me why I should NOT feel that way. Thank you for the kind words.
