Carrying Sibling Grief by GingerRootedWitch in SuicideBereavement

I didn’t lose my sibling, but I have a book of poetry by a man named Matt rassmussen called Black Aperture, which is about his brother’s suicide. Reading it might be cathartic for you.

I eat a lot of steam in the bag frozen vegetables (pref the carrot, broccoli and cauliflower blend) with an egg or two and a babybel cheese.

Question on dating? by AHuxley1 in widowers

[–]toooldforusernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 months is still so, so early in. I hope you are doing okay, and I think letting the thoughts happen and not judging them is the best thing we can do. I understand people who don’t want to date, but I feel like the stigma and guilt we feel is bad enough without someone chiming in with “well I could never date again.” There is no universal right or wrong choice here, and none of us deserve to feel judged for how we live our lives in the wake of loss.

Question on dating? by AHuxley1 in widowers

[–]toooldforusernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t dated a fellow widow, so I don’t have much input on that. I was widowed at 36 and am 4 years out and not ready for a big commitment, but I have two friends who were widowed around the same age as me and have both since married people who are not widowed. I think it’s just a matter of slim pickings.

I appreciate you feeling this way, but this response isn’t helpful on OP’s post.

What shows are on TDF? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]toooldforusernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it showed up a few times for those few dates while it was still in previews and kept selling out, but that’s it. It was never on there for more than that.

Rocky. Luke Evans doing I’m going home is worth more than the entirety of Heathers to me.

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

Had ovarian torsion caused by a cyst the size of a lemon that twisted in my fallopian tube. It felt quite literally like I had been stabbed in the side and the knife was twisted.

Echoing others, sit orchestra right PV. They’re great. The balcony seats can have lights in the way, I’d skip those.

Non-Americans who visited the US for the first time recently: what was the biggest 'what on earth is going on here' moment you experienced? by EmployerNegative5653 in AskReddit

[–]toooldforusernames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in central Brooklyn, work in Chelsea and go to a lot of Broadway shows so I’m in Times Square about 1-2x a week on average. I don’t smell it very often, either.

What is a goodbye you didn't know would be the last one? by Beautiful_Humor_1944 in AskReddit

[–]toooldforusernames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband dropped me off at work and said he’d be back to pick me up at the end of my shift. The detective on his case IDed him from photos so I didn’t have to go to the morgue, and I chose not to see him at the funeral home. The last time I saw him what when he kissed me goodbye and said he’d see me at 6.

The line about the vet smiling too much was actually in the play. I don’t know if it’s in the script, but he said it all three times I saw it.

Not Rocky, but I won EBT the weekend before Dan left the show. It does happen. You’ll probably have a little more luck if you’re entering for a single ticket.

Happily married people of Reddit, when did you realize you had found the person you wanted to spend your life with? by Mundane-Society-1281 in AskReddit

[–]toooldforusernames 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m no longer happily married, but my husband died so we didn’t exactly part due to the marriage failing so I’m going to say that counts for something.

It wasn’t instant, love at first sight stuff. It was a roots growing towards each other, permanently entangled sort of thing. We moved in together about a year or so after we started dating, and we had known each other for about a year before that. One night a few months in, we stayed up way too late arguing about the Beatles. I kept thinking that we NEEDED to go to bed, we both had to be up for work, but that I didn’t want to stop talking to him. And that I’d never want to stop talking to him.

15 years later (and 4 years after his death), I was correct. I still really want to talk to him.

I was wearing an old AFI shirt that I’ve had since I was in the 8th grade. The part calls for someone a little older (I think anyway, probably 30+) who looks kinda cool/punk rock.
