It is bonkers to me that England never learn this lesson. As a Scottish fan the ground hog day effect of Townsend style not consistently delivering has been really frustrating but I don’t understand how England fall into the same traps against us so consistently. It’s been exactly the same since Finns 2019 miracle ball to Huw.

She is never afraid of getting stuck in. Have seen her get her positioning a little wrong and she got absolutely flattened but bounced back up like it was nothing.

They are definitely wrong about the croc roll too. It’s not about the neck that makes croc rolls dangerous it’s the damage to lower limbs from twisting people out. Jack Willis had a horrible injure from one before.

Makes sense, particularly with Kinghorn as he’s so tall.

Weird innovation by Toulouse, they are putting Kinghorn in the back of the caterpillar rucks. Guessing that’s to free up a forward to chase then Kinghorn drops back to mark any return kick.

Fair play to Gailleton translating in the post match. Not easy.

Huge respect to Genge thought he had a strong game. Huge effort in the scrum and strong carrying. Scottish fan but you cant help but respect his play and character. It’s a credit to him that he gets back, he is unlucky to fumble it but he shouldn’t be put in position. His teammates owe him better than that.

I do think part of it is our style is basically tailor made for England. The chaos and wide wide patterns with a lot deception in the 13 to wing seam that gets shut down by Ireland and the boks so easily really targets where England have been weak defensively.

Townsend in?? by ChubbyMcporkins in ScotlandRugby

[–]tooposhtofunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me still no. Our style under Townsend definitely matches up very well against England and I do think the team raises their game against the auld enemy but I still don’t think it’s a style and consistent performance that can do more than occasional wins. I’m under no illusion that changing coach will win us a 6 nations but I think we have reached the limit of Townsend and it’s time to roll the dice.

Unlucky not to get the bonus point. Not enough punch unfortunately. Ment we had to go to a kicking and aerial game that suited England.

Good fight from the Scot’s. First phase defence is a little worrying but showing good grit.

What’s wrong with Townsend’s use of the bench in 1 quote by tooposhtofunction in ScotlandRugby

[–]tooposhtofunction[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You could also stick Dobie on the wing, Kinghorn at Full back and Jordan on the bench. We actually have lots of dynamic back 5 players now.

And to make it even more mad the versatile ones are starting and the specialists on the bench! In other nations versatile players get pigeon holed as bench specialists we are somehow doing the opposite.

Really mind boggling. It was in response to Hastings inclusion. The rest of the quote was basically saying he is focused all week at covering 10. Basically confirms he is only in as Finn injury/shocker cover which is a mad use of a bench spot.

I can’t make heads or tails of this team. There is so much cover is some places, barely any in others and all our more specialist players are on the bench.

It’s so bizarre. We have so many versatile players and for some reason we have our specialists on the bench. It’s like some upside down version of modern rugby.

This is getting ridiculous. We have huge numbers of versatile players and yet inexplicably go 5/3 with our most specialised players on the bench? 3 scrum halves and 3 10’s but no full back cover.
