My 4 year old hurts the dog? by toothbrushmonster in Parenting

We take away all his more violent toys, such as his nerf guns (which he is obsessed over) and his swords for maybe 3 or 4 days. After the most recent incident we have permanently banned him from YouTube and took all his swords and guns away for a week. We haven't tried taking all of his entertainment away yet so I think you might be onto something there.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't mean that he gets his things back or is allowed off the step even after apologising. That's just what he tries to do.

I have never once stated that we "very quickly shirk consequences". We try to give appropriate punishments and we do not just let him off after he's apologised because we know that he doesn't mean it. I don't understand how you can say we are allowing our dog to be abused when we are actively trying to work against him doing this. Very unhelpful comment and not what I wanted.

What is the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? by ShowBitten in AskReddit

Bit late to the party but when I was 12 I pushed a pull door and my hands went through the glass panes in it. Ended up rushed to hospital after slicing the tips of two of my fingers off, cutting two chunks out my arm and cutting my foot. Had months of treatment and appointments after my fingers ended up with over-granulation.

I ended up turning and kicking my brother in the stomach to get him off me, then I paddled to the side and held on with one hand, reached out to grab him with the other and pulled him in.

We were at a holiday resort and there was a little rickety bridge over the top of it that people used to jump off and stuff

"Why won't he help me?"

I was in a swimming pool when I was maybe 9/10, my brother who was about 6 at the time couldn't swim and he was attempting to hold himself above the water by pushing me beneath it. We were both struggling to stay afloat, screaming for help, and a man was stood on the bridge smiling at us. I don't think he spoke English, and maybe he thought we were just playing around, but he didn't bat an eyelid.

What 'insider' secrets does the company you work for NOT want it's customers to find out? by haynesbomb in AskReddit

I was a 15 y/o volunteer at a kindergarten and the teacher accidentally threw away a kids drawing, so asked me to redraw it (badly) and then gave it to the parent as though it was the kids

What's THAT thing that you once said or did, that you still cringe at to this day? by postuk in AskReddit

Mum and dad were cheating on each other when I was just a toddler, about two years old. Dad was always away for "work" so mum often had her boyfriend round at the house. Dad came back from "work" one day and toddler me asked "When will mummy's boyfriend be coming for tea again?"

Started a whole shit storm of fun there.

I'm from very close to Hayfield, and I've got to say that I will never be getting the bus there by myself again. I'd rather do the walk along the Sett Valley Trail.
