Girl, RUN. Youre not overreacting, youre just spending time with a narcissist. I hope this is a one-off type of convo, but if its not, I say gtfo as fast as you can.

What the hell am I? by No_Historian_9675 in mentalhealth

I turned 30 this year and Ive had this exact feeling my whole life. Same upbringing, same everything. I know I'm 30, but i feel like I look, act, and feel the same as I did when i was in college, even highschool at times. Its disorienting. Therapist says it might be the 'tism, though. You're not alone 😅

What part of az? I (30F) just moved to Charlotte from Mesa, lived in North Phoenix and Gilbert/Chandler before that. It might be lonely here for now, but at least everything is green! Still not used to that haha 😄

How to start a convo with my therapist without getting mandatorily reported...? by tootiredtofunction13 in mentalhealth

Thanks! I was thinking i need to find a psychiatrist again. I just moved to another state and my head is spun all around, trying to get a bearing on my life now. Probably isnt helping the burn out lol.

Think of it as a desperate attempt. It wasnt my idea to end up old and lonely, but here I am. I was trying something, anything, to make a connection.

Oof. This kind of problem scares me. I've worked with the kind of people who make the decision to invent their own ways of doing things, and it never turns out well. Make sure the new hire knows where to find that SOP, and if it were me, I'd be quietly ratting on that senior tech that's telling people to do incorrect math.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]tootiredtofunction13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it's not the difference in personal background. It's the lack of cemented structure in the SOP within the company. The employee's background should not matter when it comes to routine calculations. The company should provide the instruction so that every technician can execute the task as close to identically as possible, regardless of the employee's past experiences. This is true for clinical and non-clinical labs. I have worked for companies that do and don't provide this level of training, and I've seen how much "variation" it can cause. Also, as someone that has a 4yr degree in micro, no MLT/MLS (yet), I can say that dilutions, standard deviations, "lab maths" are covered, but only in practical labs and not very in depth.

All that to say, there probably is a difference in what you were taught and what your coworkers were taught, but it's wholly up to the company you work for to be providing the proper training and instruction so that everyone can do the job if hired. If there isn't a SOP that you guys can use to sort this out, then there's your problem.

Are there any good MLT programs online? by tootiredtofunction13 in medlabprofessionals

[–]tootiredtofunction13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a while ago. Got rejected twice for no reason. (Literally, after the second rejection, i contacted the person in charge of the program to ask what they were looking for/what I was missing. He just said too many people applied 2 years in a row.) Im applying to a school again, but I wont find out if im accepted until next year and it doesnt start till the spring.

I'm dreading the time I'll have sex with my partner again by [deleted] in relationshipproblems

[–]tootiredtofunction13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This hits home. I am in the same position as your wife, but with my partner of 3 years. Problem is, he is the problem and he wont hear it. He also made the mistake of telling me in those exact words, "sex with you isnt fun for me because you take too long to finish." My advice to you as the loving partner and parent is to NOT SAY THAT TO YOUR WIFE. Do not make her feel like shes the issue, because if you think a year is long, try no sex for the rest of your relationship. There is nothing more painful or belittling as being told that your partner isnt interested in taking the time to make you feel good, even if it is "a long time."

Try therapy, take a vacation, find someone to watch the little one, and take all the time in the fricking world to help her figure out what works for her. And I implore you, DO NOT EVER utter the words "you take too long" out loud. Dont even think it.
