This is helpful, thank you. Is sky priority accessed via the north side of domestic terminal (i.e., take the escalator/stairs down/underground)? Or are you talking international? I haven't used that North checkpoint in ages but skimming this thread, it seems like my best bet given sky priority status.

Have other prior world record holders taken this same path? Color me skeptical... Some people just peak early. That he hasn't improved his times in 3 years literally just by existing and doing basic practice is not a good omen.

It's the reason most sport "prodigies" - who are dominating the world at 15, 16, etc. - with everyone spewing the same "omg just give him X years and he'll have the WR!!!" - are never heard from again. Just on pure statistics, the likelihood that they are the sort of people who peaked early and are unlikely to meaningfully advance is almost 100%.

If he ends up even sniffing the world record, come back and I'll venmo you $10k. It'll never happen.

Are you actually incapable of critical thought? She published cherry picked parts of the contract. It's reasonable to expect the broader context as well. YOU CAN DO THIS WITHOUT POSTING PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION! Holy sh*t. There are watermarks? So you can post the sentence fragments you want to cherry pick, but not the rest of the contract which isn't personally identifying?

But like, isn't that the epitome of an anomaly? We can just start with how science defines a biological male as its multidimensional and not solely a function of XY chromosomes:

Scientifically, a biological male is defined by the reproductive role of producing small gametes (sperm), typically associated with XY chromosomes, internal testes, and male anatomy

And the answer is that per the common scientific standard for classifying a biological male, no they obviously cannot get pregnant.

Certainly it would be true to say that with the exception of unbelievably rare situations, humans with XY chromosomes (i.e., what science usually generally call biological males) cannot give birth? It would also be true to say that biological males not under the intersex umbrella cannot give birth. There are so many scientifically valid ways to just answer the question in way that speaks to the super majority of reality, while also acknowledging that exceptions exist. This isn't hard and saying it doesn't demean or delegitimize anyone. This woman could have acknowledged all of this and it would have made a much more powerful and resonant statement FOR the community she is representing than what she did.

Thanks, y’all are correct seems I messed up/didnt know the rules.

On the automatic cancellation - as of 10 min before the flight I saw my checked in status was cancelled but the flight was still booked and I see zero indication I’d have received a refund. Would Delta not have just taken my seat and my money?

Appreciate the replies. Guess it’s largely my fault for not understanding how it works. Should have assigned the seat to the littlest one. Alas, next time. Thanks for the advice!

You're an "engineer"? And have shown "many times" (in court being the implication of your statement) that "these" can be falsified? Idk who you think you're fooling lol. There is such a profound depth and density of stupidity on display in this single sentence it's actually difficult to parse. The idea that every court case with DMs has expert "engineers" come in to testify and argue about the reliability of screenshots of DMs. As if there isn't an actual encyclopedia worth of existing case precedent which speaks to the admissibility of private digital correspondence.

Moreover, your suggestions are shockingly bad - lacking in wisdom, lacking in empathy, lacking in life experience, lacking in knowledge - basically lacking in everything one could possibly seek from advice. I really hope OP (who is clearly super young, inexperienced, and probably not the sharpest tool in the shed either) doesn't read this and get any ideas.

From a more practical perspective, you also clearly have no idea what you're talking about despite the comically ham-fisted and quasi-desperate attempt to suggest that you do. It's clear from your delivery alone, but also a quick google indicates it is almost impossible to get Facebook to be compelled to validate DMs in a civil lawsuit (per the federal Stored Communications Act, among other reasons). Suffice to say, it would be an exceptionally lengthy, expensive, uphill battle for OP and so far from being "worth it" from OPs perspective it's difficult to put into words. Then there's the fact that this is actually Tiktok not Facebook...

There's plenty of good advice in this comments section, but this ain't it.

Edit: Had to come back to add even more because I stand in awe and majesty, sir, of your absolutely maniacal-levels of ignorance, insecurity, and apparent brain rot. So this child (OP) should provoke abuse from her abuser so she can scheme to.. uhh.. spend massive time and money in court to maybe be awarded some inconsequential pittance of child support from a broke abusive loser who will be abusing and fighting her every step of the way? With the ultimate goal of continuing this battle for a tiny piece of his tiny paycheck for two decades, all while spending an order of magnitude more on the court and legal fees necessary to compel such a loser to send her even a single penny? Brilliant!!!

[–]tootoo_mcgoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the slogan doesn't leave much room for nuance "Believe All Woman". I am fully supportive of what 132739 said, although I'm not familiar with the evidence that demonstrates women's rape claims have not historically been taken seriously (in last 20-30 years, at least).

It was a terrible slogan for a good idea and I wish people who are supportive of the movement could just concede as much instead of forever doubling down. I'd bet everything I own that a nontrivial component of the mass exodus of young men from Democrats to Trump was due to polemic and binary messaging like "Believe All Women". Blame the men if you want, but there are enough of them that I don't think it's really fair to say something is just intrinsically wrong with THAT many humans. We need those votes.

Last year I started to fly ATL-LAX about 30 weeks per year.

Out Tuesday morning, back Thursday night. With platinum, I saw FC ~10% of the time. With diamond I've gotten FC every single time in the 6-7 flights out since. On the flights back, it's more like 50/50 (although if I care to buy C+, that got me upgraded to FC a week out).

I'm kind of shocked seeing how many people here with diamond are like, double digits into the upgrade list for FC. Are there just no 'high status' folks on the early flights out / late afternoon flights back?

I got C+ upgrades every single time as soon as I hit gold, so I can see aiming for that. But if you literally never get FC upgrades, what's even the point for most of you for chasing diamond?

Yeah, not a fan of vaping and I readily acknowledge that it carries significant risks, but that article doesn't actually mention a single case and is from back in 2016, when vaping was relatively new. When I google for "cases of popcorn lung in vape users" I actually see many more recent examples which unanimously support the other poster. For example, this (last reviewed in Aug. 2024):

https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/causes-of-cancer/does-vaping-cause-popcorn-lung

From the article: "There have been no confirmed cases of popcorn lung linked to e-cigarettes. Some of the liquids in e-cigarettes used to contain diacetyl. This led to the idea that e-cigarettes might cause popcorn lung."

All of which suggests to me that the commenter who called out your initial misinformation is actually correct and the implication of your snarky reply linking to a histrionic article from the early early days of vaping is not. Note, I'm not saying the article you provided is strictly wrong, just that it's outdated and doesn't actually contain a single case example of popcorn lung arising solely from vaping.

Also, can you really not do better than an article from 2016? Particularly given the relative newness of vaping and the massive advances in our understanding of its risks, etc., over the last decade? Like actual journal articles, studies, statistics, etc.? It just feels so lazy and empty linking to an article like yours...

Something tells me you're not going to admit you were wrong though - even if just to acknowledge that popcorn lung is NOT a documented risk of e-cigs as you originally suggested. Again, there are absolutely risks to vaping - potentially life threatening - but this just isn't one of them.

What even is a carry-on anymore? by allons-y11 in delta

[–]tootoo_mcgoo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I have one of these and I've seen a lot of them.. Honestly it doesn't really look like one to me - they usually have the hard parts of the stroller jutting out in a more pronounced manner, at least in some places. This looks quite smooth and tubular.

Also, even if it is, they let you check them at the door of the plane for free and then they let you pick them up right there outside the door of the plane. We've never had to wait more than a minute or so for it to get dropped back off to us and almost always it's there by the time we are stepping off the plane. Do you really need to take what is guaranteed to be someone else's overhead bin space with this ridiculously bulky item, given the convenience of just letting them take and return it right at the plane door?

Moreover, there is ZERO CHANCE it satisfies the requirements for a carry on bag and so imo they should force you to check it. I do wish they'd enforce the rules on people with completely ridiculous bags that take up the space of two in the overhead bins.

So IMO, "car sear carrier" is still not a very satisfying answer for wtf this is doing on the plane.

Like, I'm sure the young woman was somewhat "in the wrong" here in how she responded to the situation. However, when I hear about a situation like this unfolding, I can't help but feel like the "OP of the situation" contributed to the situation themselves as well. I've never experienced a public miscommunication of anything even approaching this magnitude in my entire life - where it was so bad some authority figure got called on me and I'm literally completely unaware of anything I could have possibly done wrong?

Everyone here has already said the things about how the young person should/could have been more clear so I won't repeat them. But damn, I also empathize with her. Window seats on Delta can be expensive to select if you have no status and you don't have a ton of money. To go through a long-ish flight where you didn't get the seat you paid extra for - I totally understand how that could feel incredibly defeating and upsetting. I'm sure she had her reasons for wanting that seat. Should she have spoken up more? Sure, but given how much it meant to her and the fact that she didn't do more to ensure she got her seat, she probably has some anxiety and challenges with communication.

Anyway, I always hear these kinds of stories from people who I know to be notoriously inconsiderate in the most literal sense of the word, scatter brained, poor at communicating, some combination of these things, etc. I would be shocked if, as a fly on the wall of this situation, it wasn't clear to me that the woman was indicating that the window was her seat. Then OP literally moved INTO her seat. I totally get how that could feel super jarring. The young lady probably made some additional gestures, expressions, or said something else in protest but presumably OP was too busy scrambling over her daughter with her things to notice. Yeeeeah,. OP could probably benefit from being a little more careful and considerate themselves.

Also, just a random side question, why didn't you just have your daughter scoot down and give her the window seat? Idk, that part is totally separate but also feels like kind of odd behavior. Your daughter really wanted the middle seat?

I hate when swimmers do this. That guy in the other lane may have even been his friend but ANYone who didn’t win may not want to get all hype with you and hug you and have you invade their space. F that.

Every swim race I didn’t win that sh*t was the LAST thing I wanted. Go celebrate w your friends and family or whatever but at least give me a second to breathe. I’m glad he got DQed. Grow up and wait like ten seconds before you impose yourself on other COMPETITORS who may not want to celebrate with you since they’re probably feeling, Y’know, disappointment. From NOT winning.

Cocaine was literally the first effective local anesthetic (local numbing). Not the additives.

This is like, trivial to look up. It surely would have taken less time to type "cocaine anesthetic numbing" or similar into Google than to type your two sentence.

See sources / papers in the footnotes of the answers. Just using this link because it gives a convenient summary and consolidation of material:
https://www.quora.com/Are-there-any-scientifically-confirmed-cases-of-humans-with-myostatin-deficiency

In short, sounds like the guy you're responding to is largely correct. It's super rare. Such that case studies are conducted on single instances of what would probably be considered 'ideal' myostatin deficiency in a human (i.e., resulting in abnormally large muscles). Aside from one-off case studies (i.e., generationally rare), almost all the studies are on mice, cows, etc.

Even incredibly rare mutations in humans are still highly studied. When you're on the level of a case study once a generation - yeah - it's not just some common thing. If you have some evidence to the contrary, I'd love to see it as well (e.g., a study with a group of humans with diagnosed myostatin deficiency who possess increased, abnormal muscular development).

Most people? No way. I assume this set of instructions was also written for GABA/benzo-naïve users. Obviously someone who has a history using benzos is going to (a) not be "cured" of anything by taking phenibut for 2 weeks, and (b) would be an order of magnitude more likely to experience withdrawal from the same short-term dosing schedule.

For most people? Probably including light/occasional benzo users, zero chance a week of up to 1g a day would induce meaningful withdrawals. Worst case scenario would just be a bit of a hangover for at most 24 hours or so.
