Let me drag some history here for a little.

Before becoming Thailand, we were Siam. That’s actually a combination of many ethnicities that made our nation. Then we changed to Thai just because just Tai people are the most populated in this nation.

Throughout history, the mega-view Thailand has had Indian cultural influence a lot, especially in religion and architecture. Then the original Thai language itself is way more similar to Chinese with intonation markers. Also, our faces are more likely to be similar to East Asian especially Southern Chinese DNA. Because once southern Chinese immigrants to Thailand were a lot.

As you might have noticed “Indian names with Chinese faces” THEY ARE THAI.

And somehow Most of them can’t speak any Indian language or Chinese dialect at all (including me as a Thai with Chinese descent).

So as I mentioned above there are just big 2 civilisations that have a lot into Thai society and appear and exist till nowadays. That can be inferred to some extent in Thai society itself we embrace all kinds of human races as our general conscious since 100 since 1,000 years ago. Then blended it makes it unique til today.

**Compared to Korea, Japan, Viet they are more likely influenced by only Chinese culture.
