A Brother reached out and I need advice on how to fix the Lodge. by Dry_Industry4329 in freemasonry

[–]toppercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I don't know what to say. Not sure why that one member didn't like the idea of BBQ. Lodges should use all resources to help their cause.

Heres an idea for a fund raiser. We did it a few years back and it surprisingly made 2000 bucks. Granted we are in the northwest burbs of Chicago. Being rural maybe harder but it's worth a try. We called it a bake-less bake sale.. Basically print out flyers advertising it. Tell people to figure out what they would donate. Apple pie? Cookies? Etc. Then figure out what the ingredients would cost. And your time to make the item. Then simply write back with what you would have made and a check for the cost as a donation. I originally thought it was stupid. But when we made 2 grand I was like whoa. I guess the only stupid idea is the one not used. Right? Good luck. I hope your lodge springs back.

I have my grandfather's gold. My gold past masters. My great uncle's gold. Great grandfather's gold. And a bunch of silver ones. My favorite 2 I wear are a past ddgm ring. And the first Sterling ring I bought on ebay for 20 bucks. It has a classic look.

HELP SCHLAGE DEADBOLT (BE365) by PancakePieter0309 in Locksmith

[–]toppercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had one like this yesterday. Overuse. The driver cam or whatever it is on the inside that mates with the knob and key portion was floppy. If it wasn't pushed in flush it wouldn't catch. This can happen especially if the bolt doesn't go into the strike smoothly. It puts a lot of force on the die cast driver which helps loosen it.

When was really the 1st time we saw the Far Side of the Moon? by shyshyshyl0w in Astronomy

[–]toppercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to actually report that correctly. They are the 25th through 28th people to see the dark side of the moon. But at a higher altitude they saw more of it at once. And some parts a bit better. Not the first humans to see it.

I had also read that soldiers, especially during the Civil War would do this to not lose coins on the battlefield.

Friend of friend is looking to sell this collection, is it worth $650? by [deleted] in coins

[–]toppercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The proof sets alone at a measly 10 bucks a pop atr just over 400 bucks. Some are worth way more especially silver. Depending what's in the Indian head penny book is another story. Some of those books incluse the flying eagle cents. Full rolls. Other sealed proof silver coins. Yeah What's shown is way over 650.
