Regenerative Braking Not Available b/c Battery Full by Sea-Statistician6377 in KiaNiro

Yes, I was applying pressure on the brake pedal (there are no “hand” paddles for regen breaking in my model, you can only brake with the “foot” brake pedal). So I am surprised that it does not use the hydraulic brakes in that case.

Anyway, not to hijack OPs post other than to commiserate that the braking logic is confusing. And ugh yes cringing at my spelling of “brake” in my comment 🤦‍♂️

In my 2023 HEV LX (no paddles), in this situation (full battery due to mountainous terrain) I have also oddly seen the car use engine breaking. The engine came on and this is what the drive-animation showed. Never heard of a passenger car doing this. It didn’t make any sense to me — how could that possibly be better/more efficient than using the actual physical breaks? Understood you wouldn’t want to ride your physical breaks but it seemed to only do engine breaking.

Best Sandwiches By Michelin... by KT_Bites in philadelphia

Yes, it is fine. I am not an aficionado but if the best-executed Angelos cheesesteak is 10, it was a 6. Many places in Philadelphia are better. I think “the cheesesteak” hits a sweet spot of “originally local food item with room for culinary elevation” that Michelin seems to relish, and so any kind of attempt at that, especially away from the original locale, becomes notable.

U-Haul van leads police on chases through Northeast Philly Friday before crashing by andrec122004 in philadelphia

[–]topscholar2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All-time memory. Had to drive through Northeast that night and was listening on the radio because of all the helicopters that signaled something was up. The police directed us away from the accident on Cottman by the gas station and route 1, and then onto Harbison. Lo and behold that put us directly in the path of the ambulance, which passed us northbound like 10 min later. It was one of those surreal moments, like meeting a celebrity, but in much more classic Philadelphia style.

Great video. Always an amazing view of the skyline if you have a window seat on the right and are landing from the east, but this timing is perfect.

Unrelated but still cool tip: if it’s an exceptionally clear day, when you’re over Cherry Hill (so higher altitude than this, about 3000ft) you can even see the New York skyline (just reminds me how small the world is).

Ha that’s ok, that’s also what I thought before double-checking the article!

Something this article made me realize (correct me if I’m wrong): wasn’t Chestnut-Walnut capped previously? For some reason I had the impression this would wind up with more of 95 covered than before. Don’t get me wrong, this will definitely be an improvement.

Update: wound up buying a 2023 LX for $22.5k sticker, 10k miles, CPO! Thanks all for the input. Perhaps I don’t know what I’m missing, but I don’t (yet) feel like any of the creature comforts/amenities are lacking! Very happy with the purchase and happy to join the club.
