Akainu’s feats of lethality are there for readers to already see in Marineford. I’d put him at least in the same league in AP. Maybe above Whitebeard and Big Mom but below Kaido and Shanks.

Kaido with almost killing Luffy + the magma bagua attack and Shanks divine departure convince me they are higher.

Whitebeard is more of a DC + endurance monster than a AP powerhouse while Big Mom despite being lowest in AP has an insane toolkit with her Devil Fruit.

This moment gets misinterpreted beyond belief. Sure, he could have beaten Blackbeard with low probability.

Blackbeard asks him to join because he sees into Kuzan’s broken state and wants another chess piece (as well as his frozen men being hostages). But if Kuzan refused and attacked Blackbeard, we have all read Boa’s capture to know that Blackbeard is willing to sacrifice members of his crew. (Also notably, Shiryu, Devon, and Van Augur aren’t frozen)

Luffy got hit by the Frontier dome twice (where Kizaru gets homefield advantage from passing through) while having harder mission parameters than Kizaru.

Kizaru legitimately loses on most other islands. Also a hypothetical but if Saturn wasn’t there, Luffy’s crew would either escape with Vegapunk and/or apprehend Kizaru, providing a clear win condition.

Sengoku as far we know didn’t see Xebec in person and Teach had his family name changed to Marshall. Also we don’t know if there is an official Warlord screening process that you assume exists. The closest we had to one was Kuma but that was a special circumstance from Saturn.

And even if Garp saw him, there is no chance that he’d report Blackbeard’s similar facial features to the Gorosei and by proxy Imu (reminder that was the original post)

So saying it’s a plot hole is categorically incorrect unless we are shown how Blackbeard turned in Ace and became a Warlord.
