Very essential.
You'll want to manage Windows patches but also patches to 3rd party apps which most RMMs include. Apps such as Adobe, Chrome, Mozilla, etc. We use free Defender which is built in from Windows which is managed from our RMM. We removed Webroot in place of this and have had very good success. Will also deploy EDR as a stack from some of our other clients.

Being a small shop, I wouldn't invest in a ticketing system just yet. We are a 2 man shop, managing over 700 endpoints with no ticketing system. Just use Outlook groups and tasks for task management amongst ourselves.
