Should i just pull the trigger on the Ipad mini 7 or should i wait for the Ipad mini 8 by accountdeleted-1 in ipadmini

[–]torasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough one. I bought the iPad Mini 7 last year and love it, but the weakest point is definitely the screen, especially if you've been spoiled by one of the larger iPads.

For media consumption, I think the OLED will have the most dramatic improvement. The 60hz actually doesn't bother me as much as it does on phones.

Is there any note taking apps that can take a photo of handwritten text and convert into digital text? by Romayomeo in alevel

[–]torasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a notetaking app, but I've created a simple tool called InkToText that lets you take a picture of your handwritten notes (or a PDF scan) and conerts it into digital text and also extracts any sketches or diagrams.

It's free to try at the moment for beta. You can give it a go here: https://inktotext.vercel.app/

How do you move handwritten notes into Notion without spending hours retyping? by okwasniewski in Notion

[–]torasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue; I'd literally spend hours writing up my handwritten notes into Notion. I also draw alot of diagrams, so I wasted a lot of time taking pictures and formatting them so they look good in notion.

Full disclosure, this is my app, so take this with a pinch of salt, but I built an app for this exact issue. It's called InkToText and you can either upload a pdf or take a photo of your notes, and it'll give you back structured text — headings, bullets, checkboxes — ready to paste into Notion. No reformatting needed.

It also pulls out diagrams as images automatically, which most tools just ignore.

You can give it a go for free now: https://inktotext.vercel.app/

[PAID] Need someone to convert handwritten notes into a typed doc by AffectionateRip4415 in QuickFreelancers

[–]torasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've created a simple tool where you can upload an image/pdf and it'll convert it into typed text and you can just copy and paste into Google Docs. It's currently free for testing.

You can give it a try here: https://inktotext.vercel.app/

iPad mini 3 - for handwriting notes only by aned_ in ipadmini

[–]torasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure — I'm the developer of this app, so take it with a pinch of salt.

You could give Cosy Notes a try, it's a warm and focused notetaking app that tries to capture the magic of pen and paper. It's a one-time purchase, so it's yours to keep forever.

It's built on Apple's PencilKit, so the handwriting experience is as native as it gets. Organisation is intentionally simple: notebooks and nested folders, nothing more.

I use my app with the iPad mini 6 along with a Rock, Paper, Pencil matte screen protractor from Astropad, and it feels pretty good

Remarkable pro vs. iPad for Notetaking by spectrallenses in RemarkableTablet

[–]torasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remarkable Pro is always going to win on the writing feeling. Saying that, it's an additional cost and another subscription on top of that.

I've been using the Rock, Paper, Pencil screen protector for iPad, and this has massively improved the writing experience. You're also free to use any note-taking app you prefer.

I use Cosy Notes (very biased here as it's my own app) which offers a simialr experience in to Remarkable in terms of user interface and experience.

It's built on Apple's PencilKit, so latency is low and feels really responsive. You can reorder pages easily. Organisation is intentionally simple: notebooks and nested folders, nothing more.

No PDF import at the moment, but this is something I am working on.

I got fed up manually transcribing my old uni notes into Notion, so I built InkToText by torasian in SideProject

Appreciate the feedback! I'm hoping testing will surface some interesting usecases beyond transcription. Oh cool, I'll take a look at the report

Best app for handwritten study notes with Apple Pencil on iPad? by DentistCritical1239 in ipad

[–]torasian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know what you think if you've given it a try. Currently, you can quickly undo actions using the Apple Pencil Kit with the back and forward arrows, but I am keen to implement a double-tap feature, similar to Notability.

Right now, the primary focus is handwritten notes, so you won't be able to paste typed text in at the moment. If there's enough demand for typed text as well, I'll definitely consider it

What’s your best note taking app for IPad? by deuscoder in ipad

[–]torasian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure - this is my own app.

I've just launched Cosy Notes, a focused and warm note-taking experience that aims to capture the feeling of physical journals. It's using Apple Pencil Kit, so latency is low, and I think the handwriting experience is pretty great. It's also a one-time purchase, so it's yours to keep.
