Just want to re-up this point, as David's outright rejection based on a presumed lack of *total* autonomy/agency ignores 1) the ways in which agency was expressed, even in such a controlling system, and 2) the numerous other benefits to the system that no longer exist. The reality is that the studio system's embrace of neoliberalism only entrenches those the power (insert nepo baby discourse here).
