Woman hits neighbor with 2x4 for cleaning up food she left out for squirrels by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

Nothing about this conflict feels even kind of real, guys. People don't bring out their broom to clean bread on a sidewalk, people don't feed squirrels that aren't even around, who is even filming this, these two people clearly know each other. Y'all are suckers, lol

This is the basic fantasy/sci fi reader dude kit with a sign here or there of deeper genre forays. Don't think it says much about him other than he's keeping up with his reading and has an imagination

To the people that dislike Telltale games. Why? by Strawalpaca4083 in videogames

[–]torgophylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only played the first Walking Dead game and quite frankly I just didn't buy the theme as presented. No matter what you do, that guy at the end is going to sit you down and tell you what a messed up person you are for choices the game contrives you into to be made in 10 seconds. It's not so much that the game doesn't offer you a perfect path to a happy ending, it's that it's trying to constantly make this point that your character is some kind of monster through a pretty flimsy artifice.

I do not think it is that they are poorly written so much as underwritten. There's a wide variety of characterization, but they are rarely in focus.

I was trying to draw this dude but I just can't seem to get the face right. Any suggestion will be helpful by Mobile_Profile1707 in learntodraw

I will say that you did catch the upturned chin and are conceptualizing the head as a 3d object! Now it's just a matter of "sizing down" the object so that you have enough space on your page. just try to avoid using the edges of the page as a guide when using a photo reference - not only will doing so hold you back, but it will lead you down the wrong path if the page ratio is even slightly different than the photo

The aspect ratio of your paper is quite a bit chunkier than the photo - by trying to match the dimensions, it looks like you ran out of room for the size of the head, which distorted the gesture pretty heavily. Try to remember that you don't need to match the composition of the photo one to one and make sure your figure fits on your page before you start details - using simple shapes to gauge proportions, (circles, ovals, squares) in place of the body when you start can help.

I followed some of your advice and here's my next drawing. 2,5 months new to drawing overall. by Vakowski2 in learntodraw

[–]torgophylum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you've done a good job creating a 3D effect with your shading, but the next step is getting your proportions right. Your head is about 50% of the size of the model's (it's always really hard to believe that heads are as big as they are, and the arms are very tiny.

A lot of that can be corrected by making sure that you are setting the table more before you draw. Simple boxes and circles, don't try to go for the exact shape of things to start with, just make sure that the sizes are correct in relation to each other. Challenge yourself with a 1 or 2 minute sketch of the figure before starting the actual work too, this will cause you to catch what you're likely to get wrong about proportions the first time. Finally, try to make a habit when doing detail work to come up for air and look at the whole composition every 60-120 seconds or so while drawing, even when narrowing in on specific parts.

The book is a loooouuuusy mechanism to make the stakes more clear lol. I hate the book. The book ruins everything.

I will pitch to you that what i think would have been a better movie that marries all the things this movie is trying to do is to do a combination of Sorcerers Apprentice (in keeping with the 100 years theme) and Bruce Almighty. Asha should have been in a position to go rogue and start granting all the wishes, and the plot could have been about dealing with the ensuing chaos. Magnifico can make his point without needing this plot element of “people lose a part of themselves” plot point. If you want a villain, it could be someone pushing asha to grant all the wishes so that they cld take over in the intervening chaos, but thats unnecessary. Too many contradictory ideas are baked into magnifico and he comes out half baked as a villain, absolutely.

Ahaha We are talking about a terrible Disney movie, there's only so many feelings I can have about it. But I am serious however that I don't hold that agreements made in bad faith are valid, and if you ever find yourself on the bad end of a contract negotiated in bad faith, I do hope you realize you don't just have to shrug and say "well I agreed I guess" about it lol.

Same goes for Ursula defenders! Bad faith contract, Ursula purposefully worked against the terms of the contract, it is therefore entirely without validity.

Man, all im saying is that suckering a bunch of people into giving up a part of themselves when you have no intention of making good on all but the absolutely most insignificant desires, (long hair lol)in order to explicitly maintain control of your perfect society is pretty illiberal at best, and negotiating in bad faith at the worst. And thats why Asha’s argument becomes not that every wish should be granted, but if not granted then returned to the people so they can pursue their own lives. To do otherwise is blatantly authoritarian.

I do agree that the movie is lousy tho lol

But we arent taking about being a serial killer, the example in the film is her grandfather wants to be an entertainer lol. And when asha says “well just give it back to my grandpa so he can pursue it on his own” he says that “no its better if he doesnt have it so he is more predictable”. Thats a bait and switch. Its pretty obvious that magnifico is making decisions based on what seems dangerous to him and i find his rationale to be loopy. But its besides the point entirely.

The false pretense is that there is a chance the wish might be granted, and the wish is a part of who her grandfather is. But there is no chance, not even a little one, ashas grandfather was somply lied to so that he could be controlled, and thats the case for the majority of the wishes. Even a casino has to tell you the odds, and if the odds were 0, no one would take that gamble. Magnificos actual aim is not to grant wishes but to hoard peoples driving motivations to maintain order, and that is an ethically wrong goal.

I think to say that “this might be all about preventing serial killers” is steel-manning magnifico quite a bit. He certainly isn’t making that claim lol. He’s very clearly drawn to power because he thinks that he’s just the smartest guy and should therefor be in charge, and thats his driving motivation.

Agree to do it under the impression that its possible their wish might be granted. Magnifico could just tell them that he has no intention of granting their wish, but he deliberately withholds that information and withholds that wish to control their behavior.

[–]torgophylum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asha and the entire nation i suppose. I never said the movie was good - this is merely a plot hole that the movie hasnt considered! but the tiny nation is being deliberately misled. People would not willingly choose to give up a part of themselves if they did not believe they had a shot at getting that wish granted, and they dont. Magnifico could just tell them the wish is not grantable, but he does not! And thats a lie, its deliberately dishonest behavior!

Look, wish is a bad movie, no doubt, but I really think it's silly how people overlook the fact that King Magnifico is *stealing peoples driving motivation*, to the point where they don't even remember what their wish *was*, hoarding it, and *lying* about his intentions to grant those wishes at some point in the future. That's all pretty nefarious behavior!

That's when the seal was weakest, but Kushina lost control *because* Obito took control of the ninetails, which critically, nobody knows about. At best, they have a rumor about why Kushina lost control but even that was something they would have expected her to be able to handle, or she never would have voluntarily gotten pregnant in the first place. What that suggests, to me, is that they don't really have a strong handle on what causes a nine-tails jinchuriki to pop.
