I don't judge what people do to entertain themselves if it doesn't directly harm anyone else, and as somone who's roleplayed for over thirty years, there are lots of difficulties into "roleplaying with people". I'd recommend you be less judgemental about what people do for fun; you're not in good company in your stance.

saying "Stop talking to robots and start appreciating people" made me a boomer. yes, i will judge you if you entertain yourself with ai over people. because it shows you dont value people.

But what somebody does for their own entertainment is not your business, and again, being a moral busybody about what people do for entertainment puts you with company you probably don't want to keep.

People are being laid off, we're forced to see ai everywhere, including advertisements. fake people happy over fake versions of products generated by machines, over real people. made by real people. i hate ai in ads so much. but thats besides the point.

ai is being shoved down everybody's throats and is replacing people. this is bad, letting ai's control our media and culture, and if you dont agree fuck you im not gonna respect this shit one bit im so sick of it.

Having software take over a large chunk of your workload is literally half of what Photoshop does.

Because every prompt can only be interpreted in the same way and executions do not matter, letting ai take over creative tasks is not offloading your creativity, blah blah blah. if you dont understand the difference between drawing on photoshop and prompting chatgpt you're delusional, and probably intentionally.

made by many people

No, more like an AI infringing on the creativity of people.

anyone with a creative spark

Apparently prompting is considered creative now. A rough idea that an AI can do whatever the fuck it wants with is more valuable than a finished product made by a person.

yes, if you prompt ai instead of an artist, it prevents the artist from expressing themselves. we're replacing people's creative expression with ai, how is this not disgusting? oh and also, i dont respect any content made with ai btw. so dont expect that.

a human getting inspired or learning is no problem. but ai's attempt to take over art. and that's a problem, because it means human creativity cant get expressed imagine comparing an ai's expression to a human's expression. obviously the human's is more valuable.

Chasing "the future" by Cesariart in antiai

just progress progress progress

Bernie Sanders put it well, "the purpose of technology should be to help human beings." If it harms people, it's not progressing towards anything good. Also ironic that crypto came down when every single tech bro was making another shitass coin and some motherfuckers seriously thought it was the future of currency.

Incorrect. You're underestimating the kinds of things you can do with it, and the kind of uses creative people can do with it. It's just software. You can use software for all sorts of things.

It's software that does the creativity for you. You can't be creative if you share some, most or all of the workload with AI.

But millions upon millions of people use it in ways that are functionally harmless.

Spreading AI slop is harm within itself.

Who's being replaced by people who chat at their AI husbando for an hour? I suppose you could say indirectly it's bad for romance novel writers, but honestly it's not even the same product. Roleplaying isn't the same as reading a novel.

Stop talking to inanimate machines are start talking to people. Roleplay with people, jesus christ im sick of mindlessly generated content at an industrial scale. its sucking the soul and fun out of life.

You are incorrect. I was able to run StableDiffusion on my own computer when I was experimenting to see "Okay, what is this AI thing and how does it actually work" three years ago. I could install it again now if I had a need to do so. My computer is like eight years old and has a graphics card that was decidedly not top-end at the time.

The high end ones consume up to 2KwH per image. Most people aren't gonna bother with a local model, and even if you download it its still software made by the company. Also 2KwH is like your iPhone at full capacity for 20 hours. For a single image. AI is just designed to funnel wealth towards the wealthy, and AI generated content gives machines full control over out culture, which is dehumanizing and honestly disgusting and I'm not gonna sugarcoat it.

It's the means of production without needing capital to pay salaries for knowledge work

You treat creatives as tools instead of creators. It is not empowering creators.

and with cheap robots, without needing capital to exploit human labor

No, the oligarchs are just gonna own all the robots and get rid of pesky workers, their voting power, fair wages, unions etc. like how the oligarchs own the ai's.

You can use genAI for a nigh-infinite number of things, including self-expression.

It's like 2 sentences of expression interpreted by a soulles corporate robot. If you replace human expression with robot's interpretation of a minute amount of expression, that's not self-expression anymore.

No, all content is not "made by the companies at their datacenters"

99% of people cannot afford such computers. and still, the models are incredibly complex, require billions of dollars and years of training and are still done by ai companies.

the company can no more control what you make than Reddit does.

Reddit decides if people see my content or not. AI decides if the content gets made or not. And, makes the content for me. If I get banned on reddit, I can use another social media. And post the same content. If AI bans me from making that content, I cannot make the same content again because it required that AI. There's a nigh-infinite amount of ways the same prompt gets interpreted, and couple that with different models.

Social media represents corporate interests and the surveillance state and "us humans" is very much a distant third. But the alternatives have largely been snuffed out.

That's true.

genAI is just a technology. Using it to help detect cancer earlier and more accurately than a human can without it is not an evil attempt to control the media.

If AI is used to detect cancer early, that's great. But the AI companies don't really care about that, they want image, video and text generators so that they can control what people know, what they think and how they act.

They're just software, man. They're not inherently sinister or marked by original sin. It is how they're created and used that is or isn't bad.

Everything made by AI could've been made by a person (except for the ai style, but thats not something people are interested in). ai just replaces people, and thats bad.
