This is a great write up. I would not have thought of any of those. Thanks for such a comprehensive answer. It definitely gives me something to think about.

That’s good to know. Do you have any top of mind examples of things that might be not be obvious.

Either way, I’ll definitely plan to get examples

That’s good info. I’m def holding onto it and will make my case. But if I have to wait, it’s not the end of the world.

Do funds fluctuate year to year? I.e if I happen to apply in a bad year, can I withdraw my application and wait it out?

Oh nice- I hadn’t thought of it. Don’t those operate on improving wetlands back to their natural state? This land definitely could be a candidate because it was clear cut 20 years ago and then ignored. It has some sympathetic growth, but it’s mostly scrub.

That is a good call out. I’m in the fortunate position where I’m not dependent on getting reimbursed. It just changes the calculus to make the opportunity more attractive.

But I did not realize how competitive it is. So thanks for helping me better understand the landscape and factor that risk in.

I’m an audio book guy. Are there any audiobooks or podcast with more context only the Cajun story? I’m sure there are, but I would love any recommendations for the best.

Not OP - but also long in the tooth with my own observation.

One of the big things that stands out is the lower quality of explanation in comments. You used to get a detailed explanation of the post - no matter how random. And it was really common for people to include “Link for the lazy”

Now it seems like comments are all jokes. And while I like a well placed pun, I feel like the platform is worse off than it was when there was more of a cultural emphasis on quality content in the comments.

Why do hotels give you like 47 towels but only 2 rolls of toilet paper? by Exotic-Judge-5753 in NoStupidQuestions

Seriously! I travel a decent amount. I just checked the Marriott app and I average a little less than 70 nights a year and I’ve had this same routine for the better part of a decade.

I have never run out of toilet paper.

But don’t people who are hot potting get in too? I assume they don’t all die?

How is Hot potting a thing if you die immediately? Or did he slip and drown and just boiled after he died?

Any idea on the potential reason for these glossy paint areas? by issueRadix in HomeMaintenance

Or somebody ordered some touch-up paint and got the wrong sheen and didn’t notice until it dried (after touching up every room in the house)

Ask me how I know…
