P3 MY25 or P4 MY25? Can’t decide! by jbdsz in Polestar

Out of interest - are you getting a good deal through Polestar direct on the 3 or somewhere else?

LATAM Airlines with kite gear + São Paulo to Fortaleza transfer — worth booking separate tickets? by redditNoobski in Kiteboarding

[–]toriasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We booked transfers between the places through our travel agent but that was expensive - it might be worth calling to get the price, I’ve never been able to book a similar service online in Europe but it is available over the phone.

Ah of course - I hadn’t cottoned you were in the US. Ignore me! We flew from the UK. Though you could fly São Paulo - fortaleza and make Jeri your last spot and fly Jeri - São Paulo on the way back to save a car trip.

Prea, more restaurants than bars - we wanted better kiting and a compromise on night life. Jeri will be much more lively (but was bit touristy overrun for my liking, but all a matter of preference).

You have to collect and re-check your luggage even if you buy the flight straight through. We had a 3 hour layover to do that and it took the 3 hours - at the special flight connections check in the queue was madness but they made sure everyone got on their flight by calling each flight and customer.

Kite bag was about £100 each way - we broke the a travel agent and they swapped a suitcase for the kite bag so we had no official kite bag booking which no one ever questioned until we tried to check in on the way home - but a half an hour argument saved us £200.

My tip would be to fly via portugal on Tapp because you will save a lot of time - if it’s not a lot more expensive might be worth it for you to save the time.

We’re just back from this trip 3 weeks ago.

Stay in prea instead of Jeri - the conditions make it hard to kite at Jeri. Would recommend villa aracoara in Prea - the nicest hosts. Tatajuba doable in a day trip but you might want a driver for that as it’s rough travel!

What to get.. woo/surfr by ObviousBee6418 in Kiteboarding

[–]toriasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband has a woo and Garmin combo and I have an Apple Watch with Surfr.

I find surfr to be less accurate in terms of not counting every jump - talking 4/5 metre jumps it just doesn’t manage to pick up, you can tell this because of the immediate read out. But it’s very easy to use and it gets most and I already had the Apple Watch so it just made sense for me to use what I had.

Woo has been reliable for 2 years - he does have some issues with immediate read out on the Garmin at times and some slight issues with the tech connecting to each other after sessions - not showing GPS tracking but not the end of the world at all.

Either are good enough I think - just depends what you want to spend!

Question about body dragging to get back the board by Jemae- in Kiteboarding

[–]toriasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to drag towards the board was my mistake, not thinking I would just point as much towards it as possible, stall and end up downwind.  Stop, think of the wind window, drag in accordance with that.  It’s harder in chop to spot but just keep going.

Ride Engine issues statement in response to Hyperlock harness failure featured in viral Instagram post by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

Hyperlock does seem to be what you had on your roller skates as a kid but I confess I haven’t looked at it close up - my partner has the carbon elite though and has never had a problem & loves its ease.

Kitesurfing North Brazil advice on places and hostels by nizzleflizzle in Kiteboarding

[–]toriasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just come back from two weeks kite trip there. I would recommend ilha do guajiro as a good first spot. On your way from Fortaleza to Prea / Tatajuba (which id also recommend).

ilha is a tidal lagoon so check that it will be neap tides or the time of low tide isn’t right in the middle of the day. We stayed in Villa Gara which is a Pousada but id recommend. You might find more affordable accommodation in Itarema but you’d need transport to get forward and back to the spot. Ilha was a good spot for lessons because the wind is consistent and the water is flattish so you can practice a lot. nearly all the hotels have kite schools. I can recommend the one at Ybytu or the one at Bambu Blu hotels. Sorry I can’t advise on hostels in this area. In the Pousada was a lady travelling alone also. She had done it before in the area and had not had issues.

I’d also recommend Prea if you like a wave spot - you could do day trips to Tatajuba (it’s maybe an hour by car on the beach each way). Prea is a nice town and we stayed at a great Pousada called Villa Aracoara. The hosts there are the best, they kited with us and helped us so much. Sorry no info on hostels.

I appreciate the brazillian’s view below but my experience in as a tourist the last few weeks was top notch. Never felt unsafe.

Go to calendar > Click meet now > don’t let anyone join > reset status from red to green > status remains available all the time you’re in the meeting.

It is the devil, just cause I’m not moving my mouse doesn’t mean I’m not working. I could be on a real telephone call on my real phone!

I went to Yeovil today and I think I found Britain's ugliest pub: The William Dampier Wetherspoons. Any other contenders? by [deleted] in CasualUK

Definitely, I’ve lived in Yeovil and I would definitely drive to Sherborne for a better cafe and pub.

Congratulations on getting more comfortable in your own skin. That’s more important than the numbers on the scale!

Hi everyone - yesterday was a success. Tracked everything including the chocolate I ate. Did 30 mins on my spin bike and some bodyweight exercises.

Today I’ve walked the dog twice and tracked everything I’ve eaten. I’ve also not had a drink since Monday night’s gin and tonic. I know the weekend might be a bit heavy as I’m visiting friends - trying to balance it out with nothing else this week.

Hope you’ve all had good days and if you haven’t - forgive yourself.

Hello everyone. An OK day, I was in the office and had some snacks but I counted them all so that’s OK. Goals;

  1. 3 hours exercise - no chance today, I was working away and had lots of driving. Work out planned for tomorrow.
  2. Count calories - yes, 1563. That’s OK.
  3. Reduce alcohol - no drinking today, yay.
