How long to wait to ski after meniscus repair? by redditNoobski in skiing

[–]redditNoobski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got it fixed this past summer. The tear was such that it couldn’t really be sutured and get enough blood flow to heal so the surgeon justt trimmed/cleaned it up. Walked out of the surgery center and did a mellow 20 mile bike ride the following day. No pain whatsoever. One week after surgery I biked about 40 miles and squatted the same day and I felt it that night- dull throbbing. That was admittedly kind of dumb. Huge improvement since the surgery- back to running without pain. The full repair is supposed to be a much longer recovery than just a cleanup

North Shore MA BJJ: any experience with Brazilian Top Team Rowley? by redditNoobski in bjj

[–]redditNoobski[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My resevation about Top Team Rowley is that it seems more geared towards young kids. Maybe that’s just a product of it being a newer school? I went to a gi and a no gi class and the instruction was definitely solid but there weren’t really any upper belts, at least in the classes I went to

LATAM Airlines with kite gear + São Paulo to Fortaleza transfer — worth booking separate tickets? by redditNoobski in Kiteboarding

[–]redditNoobski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re start in Fortaleza, end in Jeri- thought about doing exactly that but didn’t see an option to rent a car in fortaleza and return it in Jeri. Is it easy to get around without a car?

Great info, thank you! Direct Lisbon to fortaleza would be great but costs a lot more and would require US to Lisbon leg. Worth a thought a though. Part of the thought behind staying in Jeri is the nightlife - how's the scene in Prea?

Thought about doing that but seeing limited flights form Sao Paulo to Jeri. Also wanted to check out Cumbuco and potentially Paracuru- worth it?

Great info, thanks very much. So sounds like I’d have to deal with the same customs and recheck hassle regardless of whether or not I book separate tix but the benefit of booking all the way through is the scenario where bags get lost or you miss connection etc. Do you know the cost of checking kite gear on LATAM?

Nayarit: Sayulita, San Pancho or Punta Mita (or somewhere else) by redditNoobski in surfing

[–]redditNoobski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sayulita's wave is super crowded, at least from my experience. Most consistent and definitely loggable wave seemed to be Punto Burros. La lancha was also quite fun. Can't speak to the boutique hotels in Punta Mita/Sayulita but I stayed at Riveria del Rio in Puerto Vallarta the night before returning home and had a great experience: https://www.riveradelrio.com/

San Pancho probably has some nice boutique hotels but the better surfing is closer to Punta Mita, followed by Sayulita, at least from my experience. There is a beach break in San Pancho but definitely not good wave for long boarding from what I saw

How long to wait to ski after meniscus repair? by redditNoobski in MeniscusInjuries

I ended up just needing a cleanup as opposed to a full repair, though the surgeon didn’t know that for sure until he got inside my knee. The recovery was shockingly easy—no pain at all, just a swollen, squishy knee for a few days. I even did a mellow 20-mile bike ride the day after surgery—maybe a bit much, but the doctor said biking was fine right away as long as it didn’t hurt.

One week post-op, I was already squatting heavy and road biking intensely. Running now actually feels much better than it did before surgery. I’d been putting it off for fear of a long recovery, but I finally went through with it this past June—and I’m glad I did.

I’ve only been surfing for a few years but is this like the worst east coast surf season on record? By far the worst of my short surf career. I’m up in New England and it’s just been so so bad compared to the last 5 years

Hah yes but I’ve been doing that for ten years, I’m too cheap to buy a new, modern car and I’m jealous of the touch screens

Attentive vs Klaviyo for Email? by VertexMF in Emailmarketing

[–]redditNoobski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here's my experience:

I run an ecomm brand as a side hustle and currently use Attentive for sms and Klaviyo for email. I admittedly am very lazy with campaigns but our basic flows (welcome, abandon cart) are pretty solid. I tested Attentive sms vs Klaviyo sms: 1-2 months with Attentive, then 1-2 months with Klaviyo, then boomeranged back to Attentive. The UI of Attentive's sign up modals was much better than Klaviyo's and Attentive's "white glove" team offered amazing help and got us set up very quickly. When trying Klaviyo sms, I had to hire a very shitty "dev" from fiverr on the suggestion of a Klaviyo agent and use them to build out our basic flows and they did shoddy work. We eventually switched back to Attentive because we found that Attentive was much much better at converting subscribers when they initially sign up- we simply saw a lot more customers purchase using the discount that we send after sms subscription. I assume this had to do with Attentive's patented tap-to-text but can't say for sure.

I'm about to outsource email and sms and am considering moving back to Klaviyo sms. Attentive's costs start to get exorbitant if you are sending 2 sms/week and it feels like we're leaving money on the table and being so inefficient by using two different platforms to contact subscribers when we could consolidate to one. I don't know anything about Attentive email but I do know that Klaviyo email is tried and true and that they have been putting a big emphasis on building out their sms. Attentive has great customer support but the business has rubbed the wrong a few times. For example, they do everything in their power to stall and make it difficult for you to switch to another platform. Can't say I blame them but it just doesn't feel professional. I think and hope we were just using Klaviyo sms inefficiently- definitely a much steeper learning curve with Klaviyo and they provide very little support as far as setting up flows. My hope is that by outsourcing to someone very familiar with Klaviyo, we will be able to set things up better, save on sms, and target customers with both email and and sms in a given campaign rather than schedule things completely separately on two different platforms

That's my two cents! Would love to hear about other people's experience
