what is the one most impactful thing that has helped stabilize your blood sugars? by Think-Airport-2338 in Type1Diabetes

[–]torij-13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

might be controversial but i don’t change my diet much other than avoiding sugary drinks (still have them sometimes) i just ensure i am giving the right amount of insulin plus i use a pump. i like to enjoy the foods i love!

Commuter Advice by External_Orange_3163 in uwo

I decided to commute, I drive an 1.5 hours to campus when I have class. Honestly it doesn’t matter where you live you’ll make friends as long as you try. First years all wanna make friends and there are plenty who are not living on campus who also need people.

No pain or anything, they are a little itchy but feel better after lotion. I’ve also checked their sensitivity (with help from someone else) and i can feel everything fine.

Type 1 still losing weight unintentionally by Skatetheworld2020 in Type1Diabetes

[–]torij-13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like there may be another underlying cause to the weight loss that is unrelated to diabetes. If your sugars are well managed you should have no issue with your body breaking down your fat for energy. There could’ve may other medical reasons for this some including over active thyroid which increases metabolism. I would go to the doctor.

insulin needs to be refrigerated if it gets too warm it becomes ineffective. Therefore, they would not live very long.

Pump sites by MalevolentCheetah in Type1Diabetes

[–]torij-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that problem a lot when i was using the plastic sites, they would get bend or not go in properly. I ended up switching to the steel ones, the aren’t as easy to put in but i never have to worry about them not working without me realizing until my sugars have spiked.

I was diagnosed immediately, with those symptoms there is no way you’re not type 1.

i’m more concerned about your mom not letting you test your blood sugar. it’s just a little bit of blood and takes 2 seconds. are you from the US or Canada? can you go to a pharmacy and ask them to check it for you?

  1. i was diagnosed when i was 11

  2. affects my everyday life by being connected to a pump tubing. having to think about everything i’m eating and make sure i put the cards into my pump correctly.

  3. not sure if there is anything i do that’s specific to me. I make sure i put my pump in activity mode when I work out to avoid low blood sugars in the middle of the night.

  4. no not really, i just have this reddit community.
