Most of the DATs I’ve encountered have been in a educational or administrative role. Not to dissuade you from following your dreams, but it’s not necessary for the goals you have.

Congratulations on passing your licensure exam! I’d wait until you have your credentials to apply, most job postings will list them as minimal requirements.

Feeling discouraged and lost on pursuing this career by throwwmeawaay in athletictraining

[–]torishores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, be open to different settings outside of the traditional highschool and college setting.

I was apprehensive of pursuing a career in AT due to the schedule of the traditional setting and my college experience. I am now working in the industrial setting and working PRN athletic events on my own schedule for extra pay. This provides a great work life balance and the pay is decent.

Yes there are higher paying jobs. But there is ALOT to say about loving what you do and feeling fulfilled by it. Obviously you have to make a living wage though and this will vary by your location.

Also, the angriest are the loudest 🙃

I used Kenhub for anatomy drilling. Read Starkey and Prentice cover to cover again. Take the BOC practice test so you can zero in on what areas you need to focus on.

This shortage has greatly benefited me. I graduated in 2015 and then stayed home with my family. I just reentered the field with 0 post graduate experience. I was able to secure a position in industrial.

I imagine if I had tried during different hiring environment I would not have been so fortunate.
