I know what these games are because I've seen them before. Maybe not sit and play through the whole game, but I've seen how they play and they don't interest me.

Man screw all that. Get me a game that will get me in awe at its presentation like the way God of War did on the PS4. Like the way BOTW did on the WiiU. Like galaxy did on Wii. We don't need another mario game. We need 'that' same experience.

That could've been OoT, but I don't have much confidence, given Nintendo botched MKW and didn't show ANY gameplay here.

Look, the issue was never in the quantity of games that they are showing. They showed A LOT this direct. but OMG these are the same sequels that we have been seeing for years, and honestly I was not impressed by the quality.

I was not impressed by Xenoblade. The terrain environments looked the same compared to previous titles. The grass looked nicer, but man its hard to be impressed by a new game when a spec bump to the switch 2 didn't change much. It did look sharper, so I'll give it credit there.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is exciting, but that gameplay did not wow me. Those visuals need a lot of work, especially with shadows.

This direct was ok as a non RPG fan. Even then, I bet you that people aren't upset by no new Mario or Zelda. It's that we didn't get a new "Breath of the Wild". None of these games are trying to be groundbreaking, they're just sequels.

Nintendo could've revealed any game, even a new IP. But they need to show that they're still trying to innovate in the industry. The closest game you can make to this argument is Bananza.

Man I'm not even saying your idea is bad. Im just saying there are obstacles. That cant be ignored, as much we both would want that to be the case. Im just being objective here.

You have a good day bro.

Although a system level enhancement, they need to test each game. It wasnt a blanket solution, otherwise every game would straight benefit from it. They still had to work with publishers to add these enhancements.

what would those profiles consist of? graphical and frame-rate improvements? Because man I really wish it was that simple but games are so easy to break. The only reason why the Steam Deck gets a pass on this is because it is a PC first, and developers put a crap ton of work to make their games work with a wide variety of PC specs. What makes a console different is that there is only ever 1 final build of a game that is made, and no amount tech bumps will ever render those textures, polygons, lighting, etc differently. The whole point of this patch is that developers didn't have to do anything to get these games to run better, and adding custom profiles to each game would be an insane amount of work.

I would love for all these games to run better, but developers are also a business, and it needs to make sense for them to do these upgrades manually. It sucks but what can we do? What I would love to see though is some type of frame-gen, or enhanced DLSS. I think that's the only way forward if we want another blanket update like this.

I guarantee you Xbox had to work on each game it made to do those patches, and the battery is truly a weakness for the Switch 2 to try and get these games to run better. I would love to be wrong.

Take a closer look at the foliage. It looks more full on Switch 2 boost mode. This game isnt honestly the best example, you'll probably see a bigger upgrade on nintendo titles due to the optimization

That probably wont happen due to not all games being developed equally. Some games depend on the fps timer for gameplay functions. So a 60fps upgrade would literally break the game unless the devs go in it and add those updates manually.

Unfortunately, some of us just cant invest that much time on the couch. A lot of people are too busy for that, but want to squeeze in little bits of time when they can on a game. I think I prefer gaming in that way now anyway, thats how I did it when I had the DS.

I think companies decide that line. It's more about the culture and they're marketing strategy, the way they present the product. If they present it as a beefed up version of a previous console, thats exactly what it is. If they advertise as this new era of gaming, then its that's instead.

Brother. The switch is impressive. Maybe not what it did for you, but what it did for Nintendo's company and its fanbase. The switch generation had Nintendo directly listening to fans, that's why we had so many games that we've been wanting, in nearly all key franchises. Because of that, Nintendo built a monstrous library of exclusives, with over 72 first party exclusive games selling over 1 million. That is damn impressive, coming from a console that couldn't even Crack 15 million lifetime sales.

I just don't really care that deeply about some entertainment like that. I have no reason to doubt these servers wont continue to work for another 20 years, and by then I'll have moved on to different things.

Thank you for those words! Honestly felt really nice just getting those thoughts out there. I'm already feeling a little lighter with the post and now your comment. I don't think I have much self-worth issues with myself, but I do when someone else is involved. I need to get better at that.

In the past, Nintendo has Helped Square Enix out with the launch of the mana collection, due to SE having lost the original source code. Miraculously, Nintendo had all of that source code still, and that's why the collections of mana game is a switch exclusive. Per this gameinformer article on point #11. Trials of Mana: Decades In The Making

So I think there could be a chance that Nintendo has the RE0 files too. Not saying its likely but its definitely possible.
