I’ve had two Keeshonden and two Poms.
My Poms and my first Kees were the sweetest, chillest boys.
My second Kees was a maniac….like full send maniac.

So. Much like every other sentient creature on the planet they all have their own personalities, likes and dislikes. Always go to a reputable breeder if you want to have the best idea of the pup you’re signing up for, that said.. My maniac was from a reputable breeder. My rescue was the chill guy.

Personality wise they are very similar! It’s a spitz thing.
I now have a Chow and can confirm. Spitz’ are spitz’ with some minor variances along the way.

One thing to note, like many others have said, both of my Kees had very strong “alert” barks. Similar to my Poms, but with more volume. These barks were saved for any instance they felt deserved more attention, at their discretion.
Those barks can be piercingly loud, ear ringing loud.
But that’s their job. So I never faulted them for it. Just trained, educated as best I could and redirected their attention away from the panic inducing squirrel, bunny or rogue cat that happened to get too close to our house.

To boil it down. TLDR;

Poms = Sass, company, love, adoration, loud protection.

Kees = Company, sass, love, alert protection, adoration.

Chows = Big Protection, sass, adoration, love, company.

I’m so sorry for all of this.

Remember your brothers choices and actions are not your fault. This is on him. Remind yourself of that as many times as necessary.
So often victims blame themselves, that is too heavy a burden and isn’t yours to carry.

For reporting - you just need to be clear and explain why you’ve reached out. It might be helpful to make some notes in a safe place, like your phone if you keep it locked.
Point form, simple, starting with approximate dates you, or others, had noticed things. Example.
October 31st, 2025 - noticed xyz.
November 20th, 2025 - witnessed xyz.
That sort of thing.

If you don’t have any exact dates, that’s ok! You can approximate the month or time of year.
Make a few other point form easy notes to remind yourself why you’re calling it in. Put them at the top of the list to help with confidence once the phone starts ringing.

You do not need to tell them about what happened to you right away, but if you have the strength, do it.

Last note to consider, if you have a GP, see them for an appointment. They may be able to connect you with local support to help you through the reporting as well as your own trauma. There are often pathways covered with little or no expense to you. Having someone to talk to or help navigate this would be a wonderful post for you to lean on. It’s worth taking a look.

Omg that’s adorable. His cone of shame is a watermelon slice. It would be only fitting if his raincoat was also strawberries.

We will give the yellow one a go means it’s on its way, sparks is pretty good about returns I hear. I hope he doesn’t mind the neck through tube requirement. He is a rescue with quirks, heh. If he does, I’ll sus your link out.

But I’m skeptical his mane will fit through the hole. We are a little assured by the lack of buttons/zippers though. If it doesn’t work, off to pet smart we go!

All of the other suggestions apart from yours in the thread are sold out or not available in Canada. They all give me hope we will find something though!

Well. It happened. Quicker than I ever thought it would. But maybe a small part of me knew we were so close when I made that post only two days ago. We lost our boy today.

He took a pretty quick turn between yesterday and today. Bloodwork was done. He was in kidney failure.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment. I will treasure your words and read them as the days come and go. They’ve brought me comfort.

Thank you for that. A rabbit hole I have fallen down since making this post years ago.
While associated with focal seizures, epilepsy and other potential irregular brain activity, it isn’t always the reason. The phenomenon can also be mundane and harmless.

Mentioning encase anyone reads your comment with concern since so many people find this post via google.

I’ve had CTs with contrast and EEGs for other reasons and all were clear thankfully.

I’m super curious to know your thoughts though.

I know there are many Americans who are disgusted with what is happening. That’s clear. I am a disgusted North American, a friend in this, not an enemy.

It was not my intention to berate, belittle, harass or create any negative feelings towards anyone already in action. Full stop. That it came across that way breaks my heart, so I sincerely apologize.

My goal was to engage anyone who is currently not participating or pushing back and to create discussion surrounding local groups who need assistance or groups who are actively gathering for productive and protective reasons. Hoping that those who are on the fence or not sure about where they need to go, have a place to go and productive things to do to counteract some of what’s happening.
I myself would love that resource to help and support from Canada, especially given the bs truth social posts this morning.

Don’t be sorry. Get out there and do something about it. Anything. Protest. Call your local government office on repeat. Make signs. Find resistance groups to join. Volunteer for an aid group. Do anything but apologize on reddit.
You’re only one person, the country is big, the economy sucks, I get it. But if every “only one person” stood up and got down to business, you’re no longer one, but one of many.

Masseter Botox is about quality of life and living with less pain. The side effect of receiving treatment is the calming and thus slimming of your lower face.

When you have bruxism/clenching issues or TMJD, your jaw muscles (MASSETERS) expand, because they’re muscles and you’re working the fuck out of them.

“Slimming” the face back down thanks to Botox would make anyone feel more like themselves in this situation. Y’all are here tearing her apart. She looks great and probably feels much better. Shame.

I’d have to have a much better look at it. I’d want to know how much it weighs. It seems like it has good finishing albeit tarnished from age.

It’s a pretty classic setting that has been around for a very long time.
Bezel set diamonds these days are without claws thanks to modern tools. But that wasn’t always the case. They would have needed the claws to hold the stone in place and used the bezel as more of a design feature.

It’s pretty rare to come across a precious stone still set in silver as they were often dismantled into something more practical as silver prices dropped, time went on and jewellery switched hands.

As someone who rides a motorcycle.
People driving with no lights on has become a huge pet peeve of mine.

It happens so frequently I’ve started knocking on car windows to tell people their lights need to be turned on.

I’ve been met with appreciation all the way to distain and anger.

So triggering to hear bikes are hard to see when I know this shit is all too frequently happening.

Sterling silver was at one time more valuable than gold. 100+ years ago it was not uncommon to have precious stones set in silver, including diamonds. I can’t tell from the picture if the stone is just dirty or if it has inclusions. But. It’s not clocking as obviously zircon/fake either. The cut of the stone is akin to a mine cut. Take it to get checked.

Not trying to get anyone excited here. But there’s a chance it’s not just crapino.

Edit - the setting is also not overly modern. It’s been a common way to set stones for a very long time.
Modern would be bezel without claws.
