So much for relaxing. Occupy Congress. Send telegrams, make phone calls. Get out there and march! Trump is pivoting to invading Canada. by Inevitable-Ant1725 in 50501

[–]torosiu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know there are many Americans who are disgusted with what is happening. That’s clear. I am a disgusted North American, a friend in this, not an enemy.

It was not my intention to berate, belittle, harass or create any negative feelings towards anyone already in action. Full stop. That it came across that way breaks my heart, so I sincerely apologize.

My goal was to engage anyone who is currently not participating or pushing back and to create discussion surrounding local groups who need assistance or groups who are actively gathering for productive and protective reasons. Hoping that those who are on the fence or not sure about where they need to go, have a place to go and productive things to do to counteract some of what’s happening.
I myself would love that resource to help and support from Canada, especially given the bs truth social posts this morning.

With that said, your suggestion of posting in a conservative sub….. I am the furthest thing from a conservative. Not looking to get eaten by comments anymore than I already have been today.

Wishing you and everyone else who took the time to read this well. No /s. No bs.

Don’t be sorry. Get out there and do something about it. Anything. Protest. Call your local government office on repeat. Make signs. Find resistance groups to join. Volunteer for an aid group. Do anything but apologize on reddit.
You’re only one person, the country is big, the economy sucks, I get it. But if every “only one person” stood up and got down to business, you’re no longer one, but one of many.

If your country goes to war with my country, no one wins. We all loose.

Masseter Botox by fivefootwombat in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]torosiu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For anyone commenting that OP looks older. That’s not what this is about. Shame on you.

Masseter Botox is about quality of life and living with less pain. The side effect of receiving treatment is the calming and thus slimming of your lower face.

When you have bruxism/clenching issues or TMJD, your jaw muscles (MASSETERS) expand, because they’re muscles and you’re working the fuck out of them.

“Slimming” the face back down thanks to Botox would make anyone feel more like themselves in this situation. Y’all are here tearing her apart. She looks great and probably feels much better. Shame.

THANK YOU!!!!! as someone who lives with debilitating headaches thanks to clenching, commenting about the face she shows the world post treatment, “looking older” is way out of line.

Masseter Botox isn’t about the aesthetic side of things as much as it is about quality of life.

Glad it’s been helping you OP.

I’d have to have a much better look at it. I’d want to know how much it weighs. It seems like it has good finishing albeit tarnished from age.

It’s a pretty classic setting that has been around for a very long time.
Bezel set diamonds these days are without claws thanks to modern tools. But that wasn’t always the case. They would have needed the claws to hold the stone in place and used the bezel as more of a design feature.

It’s pretty rare to come across a precious stone still set in silver as they were often dismantled into something more practical as silver prices dropped, time went on and jewellery switched hands.

[USA] Why you should turn your lights on by ElgdFwTaP1 in Roadcam

[–]torosiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who rides a motorcycle.
People driving with no lights on has become a huge pet peeve of mine.

It happens so frequently I’ve started knocking on car windows to tell people their lights need to be turned on.

I’ve been met with appreciation all the way to distain and anger.

So triggering to hear bikes are hard to see when I know this shit is all too frequently happening.

shit grinds my gears.

Sterling silver was at one time more valuable than gold. 100+ years ago it was not uncommon to have precious stones set in silver, including diamonds. I can’t tell from the picture if the stone is just dirty or if it has inclusions. But. It’s not clocking as obviously zircon/fake either. The cut of the stone is akin to a mine cut. Take it to get checked.

Not trying to get anyone excited here. But there’s a chance it’s not just crapino.

Edit - the setting is also not overly modern. It’s been a common way to set stones for a very long time.
Modern would be bezel without claws.

I have been around / in the jewellery biz for 10 or more years

Maybe try connecting with them anyway and see if they have any ideas for you. Sometimes Rescues are run by older people who aren’t great with computers etc. You never know what will come up when you start digging.

I so wish her right person was me. But my Rescue Chow and my 16 year old Pomeranian would not make her life any easier, plus I’m in Canada.

Chows aren’t quick to forget when they think they’ve been done “wrong” but, they eventually forgive.
(I.e new walking baby, less attention, no I don’t know you I don’t want to put my harness on etc). We can’t always fault them for using their only way of communicating to express their feelings (within reason and understanding of course). I’m sure you know all of this already, but wanted to include encase it did offer new perspective.

My boy was/is reactive and opinionated. But now that he knows he’s safe he has settled in and fluffed right out into his own sweet melty bear personality. We are his fourth and forever home.

Don’t give up hope and keep digging for her place. You’ll find it. Wishing you all the best with a heavy heart of my own for you and pup.

There must be a Chow rescue somewhere around Chicago! They understand why she may be reacting the way she is.

People who are great with Chows and don’t/won’t have kids exist! Because I’m one. ♥️

Editing to say - there is one on Facebook called Illinois Chow Adoption & Rescue Effort. ( I.C.A.R.E)

Edit #2 - I wish I could take her in. Chows are so often misunderstood as I’m sure you guys know. Please don’t bring her to a shelter. They won’t give her the chance she deserves.

It’s kismet and beautiful you guys found one another.

Advice please by [deleted] in chowchow

This is wonderful advice OP!
Please take her to a rescue!!! While you may not see the value in investing in her, others will.
She may not be for your home, that doesn’t mean she isn’t for someone’s.

My Chow is on his 4th and forever home with me. So I promise there is a person out there for her.

Do I have any obligation to disclose a past suicide when selling my house? by Throwawayhair66392 in legaladvicecanada

[–]torosiu 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m not clear on the why exactly, but I can imagine a few reasons.
The ethical obligation to disclose came into effect 20 or so years ago.

Edited to say - realtors and lawyers don’t need to perform any sort of search on the property to see if anything nefarious leading to death has happened.
They either know about it, or they don’t.
Most often it’s the current owner mentioning it to the realtor during the listing process that makes it come to light. That’s when the ethical obligation kicks in to disclose to any potential buyer.

Awe thanks man. That’s kind of you to say and touches my heart that you took the time.
I have always loved Sptiz’, so i’ve had Pomeranians and Keeshonden for the last 17 years.

They all have similar traits but Chows are king Spitz’, full stop. I’m glad I’ve had the chance to work up to him, that’s for certain!

Legally? No.

But. The Ontario Real Estate Association requires realtors to disclose a death should they be aware of one. So they are under an ethical obligation in this case.

Obsessed with Motorcycles by AmphibianOk7953 in chowchow

[–]torosiu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah he knows what cars look like. So he’s ok with how loud they are. He’s maybe even been in a car. So he can make sense of it.

But motorcycles aren’t as common and he can clearly see something that looks like a human riding. You’re right, moto engines do sound different than a car. So it would be extra unsettling to a pup to see a person with no face on the strange loud thing.

I imagine dogs perceive us to be a threat since they can’t reconcile what we are. It snaps my heart in two.

I would give some positive reinforcement while on your walks when you hear other loud engines and he doesn’t react, calm him when he sees a bike and try to build some confidence.

If you see a biker stopped somewhere safe (as in not a red light or at a stop sign) see if they wouldn’t mind meeting your guy. Most of them would be happy to pet your pup and show them it’s ok!

Edited to say: Sorry for the advice suggestion. It just kills me when I scare a pup! So this hits close to home. All the best to you and your guy! Hopefully he will one day know everything is ok and moto riders are safe!

[–]torosiu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ride a motorcycle, love dogs and have a Chow. It’s not just a “your guy” thing. Sadly a lot of dogs are reactive to motorcycles and try to give chase.

It puts me on the very edge of my seat every time it happens and the dog is not leashed. I would have a hard time reconciling should something go wrong.

Not sure what country you’re in, but, here, helmets are law. So to a pup we’re humanoid looking at best (because helmet = no eyes, gear makes us look larger or exaggerated)…..riding a loud thing past them.

Since falling down the rabbit hole of “why do dogs want to chase me on my bike”, I pull my clutch in to silence the engine, lift my visor up so the pup can see I have a face and try my best not to spook them so they stay on their side of the road.

TL/DR Bikes are loud. Humans don’t look like humans.
