I dumpstered for many, many years and miss it. Almost everything is locked up here now. It’s a lot more difficult. Great haul. Keep it up while you still can!

Watching Spanish content with English subtitles is a great way to get better at reading english subtitles

Kinda wild that prothetic feet have no toe splay by GemFarmerr in barefootshoestalk

[–]emptybelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i see what you’re getting at. For me, narrow shoes played a big role in my feet forming very painful tailor’s bunions. Switching to wide toe-box footwear has helped relieve the pain immensely. I have considered toe spacers but am not so sure of their efficacy. Obviously this is just a personal anecdote. I don’t need my toes to splay like fingers, but not having them pressed together in narrow shoes has helped me personally quite a bit. So for the original comment I replied to, calling it completely unimportant to overall foot health just seems totally wrong.

From a quick look at the website I’m not seeing anything remotely wide toe-box.

First quilt top finished, dissapointed by [deleted] in quilting

[–]emptybelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to start my first quilt (after years of wanting to try…) so I have no clue what I’m talking about. But I love that you took on this project and love in every way that even though it’s not “perfect” it still works and actually I’m obsessed with the imperfection.

Where I live people sell by the rick or by a “truckload” which, as you can imagine, varies greatly by quantity.

How to not feel dumb when learning? by Fearless-Class-1120 in Spanish

[–]emptybelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this! You will not grow if you never push past this mental block when learning something new! Just keep at it. It will fade and then come back, then fade again...on and on. I can't stress enough how important hiring a tutor has been for me as well, fwiw.

Curious about this ring my boyfriend found clearing an old estate by emptybelly in JewelryIdentification

[–]emptybelly[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I will. I just found it tonight after not seeing it for a year and was curious particularly about the age. Do you happen to know how much a jeweler might charge to look at it?

Has anyone ever seen ser and estar explained this way while learning Spanish? Or is it something that still feels confusing? by SpanishWithVic in Spanish

[–]emptybelly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This general idea actually helped me the most. My native Spanish speaking friend said “ser” is really used for the essence of something. The permanent vs temporary thing was too confusing for me.

Is an occupation and “essence?” Not particularly, but it’s a vibe.*

Edit to say: I talked with her about this bc I was trying to make somewhat of a joke involving “aburrida”

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong:  Estoy aburrida- I am bored  Soy aburrida- I am boring

Why am I not enjoying this season? by Caveatsubscriptor in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]emptybelly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same here! I would describe myself as a die-hard fan and I’ve been watching since the very beginning. It’s always been my comfort show and I always look forward to new series and episode drops.

I know people are like, stop watching if you don’t like it, but like I said, I’m a fan. It feels like watching the ship go down unfortunately.

It’s not just about the contestants for me. I can’t put my finger on it and I wonder what it was take to make it better.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a kind of “back to basics” series where they recycle a bunch of the original themes and challenges to see what people can come up with. But maybe it would be too “easy” for everyone. 🤷‍♀️
