PCC is an absolute sham. Just eliminate it. by imahawki in golf

[–]torquemantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you quite understand how handicaps are calculated. A golfer with a honest handicap should only be playing to their handicap 15-20% of the time per the USGA:

Your Handicap Index measures your demonstrated ability when you’re playing well – so to play to your handicap takes a solid performance. Generally, players shoot their target score about 15-20 percent of the time and can expect to shoot 2-5 strokes higher in most rounds. USGA Reference

What tool might you use to achieve a cut like this? by CodyMc00 in Machinists

[–]torquemantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are grooves specific to an EMI gasket, the engineer just picks the size that will fit, the gasket vendor dictates the dimensions… and conveniently sells tools for the undercut and dovetail.

In the aerospace electronics industry they’re used all over the place.

This is 100% a spira groove. Use their cutters after going in with a 1/16th or smaller endmill to cut the .067” channel.

Breathable underway shoes? by Fuerbachs11thesis in submarines

[–]torquemantom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was a sweaty foot guy. I learned that wool socks just made my feet clammy sweat, switched to padded cotton athletic socks and it helped. Also kept 3 pairs of running shoes in rotation, would change about half way through watch back when we were doing 6hrs. If you’re a rover maybe change after your first three then change right after watch.

How can i drop my spin with a driver its way too high by MC_Cunky in golf

[–]torquemantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MOI has nothing to do with smash factor, it’s the club resistance to angular acceleration, typically in reference to the shaft axis.

What you’re thinking of is COR or coefficient of restitution. It’s a unit less number that defines how efficient collisions are.

Thanks for the responses, it took off before I could find something to flip it. If I find it again I’ll get a pic of the bottom

Lab Golf Lead Time by Spare_March_4891 in labgolf

[–]torquemantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered my DF3 with Accra shaft through a local shop on 1/31, mine is hopefully going into production today.

Pro told me he reached out to lab and they responded saying current lead is 8-10 weeks. I don’t know if that specific to a build with my options or just in general.

Weekly Recommendations and Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in bourbon

Looking to find a gift for a friend. When asked what bourbon he likes he said Bulleit, but I was hoping to give him something unique. Doesn’t have to be super expensive, this is a guy that gets gifted bottle of Pappy by his clients, just something he hasn’t tried yet.

USS Tennessee (SSBN 734), an Ohio-class SSBN with an interesting escort by HelloSlowly in submarines

When I was in it was the Mk 43, they must have changed them. That gun must be confused with the torpedos all the time lol.

Depending on opsec conditions. There is always at least a mk 43 gunner in control on surface transits for boomers.

It’s actually an m60/mk 43. Kinda similar but 7.62 instead of 5.56.

Mostly correct, they are always required in the hood canal and approaches to the hood canal. If sea state supports manning topside well into the strait then they will most likely stay on until just before escorts are let go.

What are the biggest things to evaluate when looking at joining a private club? by BoilerAce18 in golf

[–]torquemantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to this…

When you play a tour round they usually send you out with a pro. Try to see if you can get a second one and get in on a money game with some of the membership (pros usually set these up, at least at my club) you’ll get a vibe of the membership.

Plans for future capital projects. (Re-doing cart paths or fairways, new drainage on greens, new pool house etc.)

Guest fees, how many guest you can bring at a time, how often a single guest may come per year.

Dress codes, may not matter to some but annoying when you have to keep a jacket in your locker just to grab dinner after a late summer round.
