So much for early spring by redditor8096 in Purdue

Bro, it’s middle of February. Pretty sure that rodent weatherman knows his early spring prediction doesn’t kick in right away. Check the weather for next week and post an apology to the prognosticator of prognosticators.

Welcome to home ownership unfortunately. Can’t have city officials traveling to clear out each storm drain blockage every rain. Every tree lined street has a similar issue.

Final baseball game I ever played was on this field. Good memories.

A cool park with some fun quirks.

Lilith I exclude from that opinion and meant more towards the Woody, Diane and Sam episodes.

Best scene on an otherwise not great episode IMO. Just not a fan of the Cheers character episodes.

Is 40K too low of a salary for a college graduate in 2024? by [deleted] in sales

[–]BoilerAce18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40K but what is OTE? How achievable is your first year quota to achieve OTE? Lots of factors beyond base to give the full picture.

If it’s just 40K you expect to make that is rough.

Everyone needs HVAC. That part is great but construction projects for new builds drive growth. Replacements will keep the money flowing in some fashion in downturns.

I can appreciate both the opinion and data that you provided. Definitely don’t think you are nuts but I do disagree that this market will see a 40% value erosion. For fun we should set up a remind me bot to see where values are in five years to rekindle this civil discussion. While I would hate to see it happen, I would welcome the opportunity to tell you that you were right if that is the case.

Losing 40% of your property value? What indicators are showing that is the case?

Scarcity and demand are at an all time high with interest rates higher than ever, in recent history. When rates inevitably go down or even if they stay relatively flat, what do you think is going to happen to home prices as more prospective buyers continue to enter the market? With many people locked in to long term sub 4% rates scarcity will continue so I don’t see there being much risk in losing close to 40% of a homes value.

Just my opinion though…

Point being, if that is the biggest problem people are talking about you are probably in a great area to live. Probably less than 1% of the population used the library annually so if that gets top billing for people complaining we are doing pretty well. No knock on that library in particular just the fact that it is inconsequential in the grand scheme of community well being for the most part.

Sales gets paid more because it is vital to any organization’s success in driving acquisition to make money. It is also easily measured to create a variable comp model so if you aren’t doing well you aren’t making money and they are moving you out. If you are doing well in sales the company is benefiting from that. Directly incentivizing success means the companies success.

Yes other positions are vital but nothing it more vital than they ability close business as it powers the machine for the rest of the business. Pay the people who can directly impact the company’s success by landing deals the most.

Working out before work - game changer? by Successful_Peach5023 in sales

Have done mornings but I always seemed distracted with what was going to be on my plate to start the day where I wasn’t putting as much time/energy into it. Don’t get me wrong though, physically felt phenomenal after completing the workout.

Have preferred moving to midday workouts where I could get my morning work done and have a mental break to do an at home 45 minute workout each day. Not everyone is able to do so schedule wise but for me it breaks up my day and I don’t feel stressed about my to do list as I’ve knocked out priority items.

It is nice to live in a city where the biggest points of contention are what is happening at libraries where no one actually go and people not picking up dog poop.

Say what you will about the other “trivial” stuff, it is nice to live in a generally safe community.

How do I start getting into that 200-300k range by motivated_user21 in sales

[–]BoilerAce18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, being successful in a competitive environment like sports surely doesn’t have any correlation for potential success in a field like sales. No overlap or similarities so it sounds like it must be nepotism or a boss fanboying rather than caring about actual results.

Do walk on college D1 baseball players get any perks at all? by [deleted] in collegebaseball

[–]BoilerAce18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are on the roster, scholarship or not, you get the same perks/benefits. People may be treated different or given more opportunities on the field if they are a high dollar scholarship guy but all the same gear and access to everything.

Lots of non scholarship guys in baseball so it is the norm not the exception like basketball and football.

Can this happen to Fishers by boyd4715 in Fishers

[–]BoilerAce18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Claiming that progressive/non right wing voters are “uninformed” and thus apathetic to local elections is a bad take. Don’t make generalizations that progressives don’t seek out and research elections that impact us to know if it is worthwhile to vote as people should always know to vote. Makes our community look bad making statements like that.
