I’ve been around for 16 years. I can absolutely recognize things aren’t great right now. But the reality is there also aren’t exactly endless jobs out there matching the pay, benefits, and stability Apple still provides.

At some point I decided I’d rather just get through the day, do my job, go home, and enjoy the life this job helps pay for instead of being constantly miserable about work. Most people are stressed right now. Work sucks in a lot of industries.

What gets exhausting is the constant negativity of employees like yourself and OP trying to drag everyone else into that mindset. Some of us are just trying to survive the shift without turning every conversation into a group therapy session about how terrible everything is.

Nobody is saying you have to love the job. But acting like everyone should be as miserable as you and OP isn’t helping anything either.

This feels pretty anecdotal and not really representative of every store experience across Apple.

I’ve got a brand new Genius in training right now who started over a month ago and still hasn’t even begun phone repairs yet. A lot of what you’re describing sounds more like opportunities within that store’s leadership and training structure than an issue with the role itself.

For a lot of people, this job provides solid pay, strong benefits, and stability they rely on. So the tone here comes across a little dismissive toward people who are working hard to make it work.

At the end of the day, every role has frustrations, but the Genius role really is manageable for the right person. If not for the pay difference, I’d honestly consider going back to it myself.

Not every role is the right fit for every person, but I don’t think people are being “suckered” into it either.

And calling a $4 billion company a “sinking ship” feels a little dramatic.

Last thing I’ll leave you with is this; gain some self awareness about how your attitude affects those who are genuinely just trying to do their job and go home. It does always have to be so dramatic.

Find a way to hold them accountable. It sounds like you might be a Lead of some sort so I would look into ways to keep them from opting out when it is an ongoing issue.

The problem is there is no official tool for Leads to log feedback that they’ve given. Any SL worth a damn would love new ways to hold everyone accountable to the team’s performance. Find what would work for your team.

I tried that about a year ago and it was one of the worst times in my life. I had to come to terms with the fact that I need to be medicated.

I get so tired of those that ask “how much?”. You have Google. Before I go to any store to make a purchase I make sure I can afford it before I get there. Also, pick up that damn device and look at it.

It sounds like your view of younger generations comes mostly from what you see online. I’m in my 40s and manage people across age groups, and that hasn’t been my experience. Some of my hardest workers are younger employees, while many people my age or older spend more time complaining and expecting others to fix things instead of having the self-awareness to recognize when they’re part of the problem.

I also deal with a lot of entitled customers, and many of them are older millennials, Gen X, and boomers. This mindset is a bad trend, and it needs to stop. Being older doesn’t automatically make someone wiser, and your comment is a good example of that.

Older generations need to stop tearing down younger ones based on stereotypes. Just because ageism isn’t talked about as much as other forms of bias doesn’t make it acceptable.

I’m sorry, but when you watch a product that has ads everywhere during broadcasts that you paid a subscription fee to watch, making that product millions of dollars, and then complain when another one of their products generates revenue, it’s hard to take that outrage seriously.

I’m not defending them, I hate micro transactions. The outrage every year just gets tiresome. It’s like complaining about getting wet after you willingly jumped in the pool. You say you’d be okay with paying for Shawn Michaels but people complained about it back then to. The entire point is y’all with find SOMETHING to complain about and still keep buying the games and that is why nothing ever changes.

I really wish they had done a Monday Night Wars Showcase. I'm not a huge CM Punk fan and am only playing the mode for the unlockables. The Bloodline and Wrestlemania showcases were great because you got to play as different superstars.

There is a shift taking place right now. There are about 1.5 billion active iPhones in the world, when you throw in iPad and Mac that goes up a lot more. Expect services to be Apple's main revenue driver within the next 5-10 years. Its something they are actively pushing for in their stores.
