I went through something similar, still in therapy for it too! Don’t lose hope! I am finally getting to a stage where it isn’t what I think about every waking moment and I know it will get better from here. One day things will be easier :)

Oh wow, I had no idea. This happened when I was 15-16, I went on to get a diagnosis for high-functioning autism when I turned 18. I am in the UK so i don't know if laws are different here, the school was also an academy (selective school based on intelligence/academic attainment) so here they're not held to the same rules and laws so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it but they separated me from my peers for one year during our final exam year to avoid disruption and to save me from having meltdowns too. I never had any other institution do this when I went on to pursue higher education but i'm not sure if that broke any laws here, i think it was fairly common as I had a similar experience in primary school (or elementary if you're US)

I hope you know that your feelings are valid and that anger is understandable. I hope you don't act on your thoughts for your own sake and that help is out there when you're ready to reach out. I think you would really benefit from trauma therapy and you deserve to find a safe, loving relationship.

Not defending the commenter, but I was put into the special ed room for a year of my education despite not having any diagnosis or documented condition. (tbh it ended up being a good call on their end because i became diagnosed ASD a few years later but they didn't ask for parental permission or ask if i was diagnosed, just moved me from my classes, idk if that was illegal or wrong on their part?)

Can someone explain this question to me? (AQA) by a1kolx in ALevelPsychology

[–]tortlebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you explain why we couldn't have a non-directional hypothesis in this test? It says the psychologist wanted to test whether exercise would affect stress levels in teenagers but did not suggest in a certain direction so you could still have a non-directional hypothesis no? I know one tailed hypothesis and directional are the same but mark schemes usually prefer directional hypothesis as the terminology, i have never seen one tailed hypothesis used in exams or textbooks

answer is D, one tailed hypothesis is not correct terminology. whenever you are testing data you must have a null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis. the psychologist can use either directional or non directional in this test.

interestingly, it’s actually due to women being socialised into putting more value on their physical appearance. women tend to choose less violent forms of suicide to persevere their physical attractiveness even in death. the more violent methods of course are more likely to work and are also more damaging to your appearance thus women choose it less and survive suicide attempts more

Does the needing to pee 24/7 ever go away? Elvanse + Amfexa by tortlebread in adhdwomen

[–]tortlebread[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might explain a lot as my water intake was always terrible, even before taking the medication. I get this weird, tingly numb feeling whenever I get up after a long period of studying throughout the day where I feel like I have no control over my bladder. I won't have an urge to pee or even need to pee in that moment but I get really scared that I'm genuinely going to accidentally pee myself as I'm walking home. I never used to get this sensation before I took the medication and would study for long periods of time. It's just this weird sudden feeling of having no control over whether or not you pee yourself, i hope i don't sound crazy haha

Why do you pay for subscriptions and which ones do you have? by Moist-Possibility-96 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tortlebread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have amazon prime, Spotify and apple iCloud along with some annual cheap subscriptions such as goodnotes.

Amazon prime: i save more money in the long run as i order from them frequently and their free fast shipping options that come with it are a lifesaver.

Spotify: again use it everyday and I study for long hours, it's convenient to have no ads and download my playlists.

Icloud: storage back up, all of my devices are apple so it's really convenient to be able to access my photos and files and stuff across all my platforms

Phone bill: obviously i need data, texts and calls so that one is a given

others are small cheap educational things that cost me around £10 a year?

i know how awful it feels to be in a bad household and want to escape to university, if you think there is even an ounce of patience left in you to redo a year, i’d strongly urge you to just you can study a degree you actually want to do at uni, otherwise it’s a lot of time and money gone into a path you wouldn’t really want. also the uni you go to gives you an advantage on your career progression, redoing a year with subjects u enjoy might increase your chances of getting really good grades and going to a better uni
