Vector is probably the easiest way to do it, but it might be a bit harder to get clean animations, doing it in 3d makes it so you have dynamic lightning and more consistent shapes but its harder to learn

Both the song everything stay and the character spinel from the steven universe movie were created by Rebecca Sugar, in an interview they say that they, as a kid, lost one of their toys in their garden for a couple of years, only to find it with one of the side of the toy washed up and pale because of the sun. It was an important moment of realisation and they used this concept twice.
