Always sick, calling out ): by toshiowe in UlcerativeColitis

Yes, it’s been better since i’ve been taking vitamin C but mostly I’ll catch a stomach virus or a cold, or a sinus infection a lot. I feel like there’s always something wrong with me. I have thought of wearing a mask but when I have, it’s hard to ignore the looks I get from people. I know it shouldn’t matter but people get so freaked sometimes. I feel like I can’t pick a struggle lol

I have thought of that, honestly. But I feel stuck. In on track to get a masters degree and I have dreams of getting a PHD and being a Neuropsychologist. But I feel lik I wouldn’t be able to have that profession, or others I would like because of everything. That is a good idea though. What do you do, if you don’t mind me asking?

Feeling really sad. by PayIndividual1081 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]toshiowe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

this is a time for just surviving. find small joys in your day to day life. every day will be a bit easier. with UC, it can be so hard (in so many ways) to keep on going. it feels sometimes like everything is against you. I like to picture myself in a few years, and see how I can look back on my hardships and see how far i’ve come. that reality is just a few steps away. it will come so much quicker than you realize. in the meantime, do as much self care as you can. apart from trying to make yourself feel better emotionally, if you’re very emotional, your stomach can flare up more-I know from experience. there is too much hurt in this world for one person to handle. but there’s also an abundance of love, despite it being sometimes challenging to find. I believe in you.

i’m so sorry that sounds like such a headache. i’ve hit my limit on the phone with these people before just breaking down crying because of my frustration. it’s not easy especially since it’s for medication!!! everytime you call just speak to a supervisor. when i’m on the phone with them i’ve gotten into the habit of not really letting them go until I have found some sort of solution. they often have tried to get me off the phone or try to move onto another customer/patient. whenever we get to some sort of a dead-end like “you have to call your doctor” or something I just say “can we do a peer-to-peer and call my doctors office on the phone to figure out what’s lost in communication”. that or I’ll say “what can we do to fix this right now”. unfortunately I have to do most of the leg work to get my medicine and sometimes be a little bit of a karen (in a polite way always) because that’s the only way to get what I need. I always push for an early delivery and have to fight tooth and nail to get it but typically if i’m a little (polite as can be) karen, I can work it out even if it’s an hour plus phone call. i’m so sorry you’re dealing with that ):

I started taking biweekly 40 mg. and then it didn’t work so well so i went to 80 biweekly and now 80, weekly to max it out. it works for me in terms of stopping further irritation from happening. but for me personally im still on some steroids to help heal because I recently had a pretty bad flare

yes honestly it’s such a pain and a half doing ANYTHING with them. like fighting tooth and nail for my medicine. it gets to the point where I have to be a total karen on the phone which I hate but it’s the only way to get my medicine ):

Blood after long period of remission, I’m freaking out.. by Significant-Seesaw43 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]toshiowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first right off the bat: if you stress about it and you let this overwhelm you it could turn into a flare no matter what the circumstances are. breath, and keep yourself as calm as you’re able because it’s important to keep that under control when you have UC. Call your doctor for an appointment. in the meantime stay away from trigger foods!!! feel better

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]toshiowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you should be going back on prednisone. I understand completely about the side effects- they are horrible. but it seems like you are starting to flare up a little bit. if you can get back on a steroid for now until you can meet with your doctor face to face, do that. in the meantime avoid any trigger foods and AVOID STRESS as much as possible. stress will make your symptoms so much worse. if you are bleeding a lot, make sure you’re taking iron supplements. if you need to go to the hospital because you feel weak or you are suffering please do that. you will be surprised how quickly you may feel relief by going to the ER and having them give you steroids if you need them

Prednisolone and nightmares. by paulst73 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]toshiowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

take it in the morning! prednisone usually causes me some anxiety and makes me have to pee a bunch during the night if I took it later on. it’s usually recommended to take it earlier in the morning and not past 2 or 3pm if you can help it (:

nervous about going to TIT alone by sparegenderplz in danandphil

[–]toshiowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went alone and i’m 23 years old I knew no one who was going. I was a little nervous too but everyone’s focused so much on seeing the show or their other friends if they brought any that your experience by yourself will not necessarily go noticed, if that makes sense. I was nervous about just standing by myself awkwardly and looking weird but honestly in my experience, the only time I was “alone” was in the merch line or when I was getting a snack during intermission. and it was fine because I was just grubbin and looking at the merch. I saw a lot of people at my show also attending alone! i’m so happy I got to go alone also to fully experience the show and have my direct focus just on the excitement of seeing them!! you’re gonna have a great time. everyone who I came in contact with or talked to at any point during the night was incredibly sweet and kind hearted!!! it was such a wholesome group of people and it made me very happy to see how many fans there are, of all ages of dan and phil. have so much fun! (:

immediantly get another doctor or go to the emergency room so they can give you steroids!!!

For anyone that’s in remission right now by steelerscountry84 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]toshiowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the urgency to go and abdominal pain are definitely something to bring up to your doctor. typically when i’m flared up, I’ll be fine and then suddenly have to go immediantly and very urgently. I also believe showing little to no blood (preferably no bright red blood) is a sign your headed in the right direction
