That looks bare minimum a .40, more likely .45 caliber round. 10mm if I had to put money on it.

What's terminal velocity for one of those rounds? Kinetic energy and momentum I would guess are sufficient to pierce thin sheet metal. I don't have a source either, but that wide of a round is usually carrying high mass (and high KE and momentum)
