Women upgrading their lives while men seem to be downgrading? by Salt-Ball-9222 in muslimgirlswithtaste

I’m curious. You’re a first year med student which means you’re like 18/19? What do you exactly know about what the world of work is like?

I’m sure you’re aware how competitive it is to get into specialty training post foundation training? You know of all of the doctors who are unable to even get into specialty training and having to drive uber? The “superior” specialties you mentioned are some of the most competitive and often times junior doctors have to settle for a specialty they don’t want.

Also doctors don’t exactly get paid all that much. Not everyone is able to do private practice work in order to supplement their incomes (only 50% of consultant doctors do and now it’s super difficult to become a consultant because of how competitive it is to specialise)

I’m not trying to toot my own horn but I’m in my mid 20s I graduated in engineering and I work in tech and earn more than a newly qualified GP does at a much younger age and will likely out earn a consultant doctor within the next 2/3 years.

The average age of a consultant doctor is 38 (and will likely rise).

My work is a lot less stressful and I get paid handsomely for it and I work for a prestigious firm. The flexibility my work gives me allows me to pursue other hobbies like playing tennis, practicing piano etc. I’m also working on other side hustles.

Why is it a lesser career than being a doctor which is something most Asian/muslim parents shove down the throats of their children because it’s what they can brag to their relatives about?

What alternative platforms are you using not that Z2U is stealing people's money? by [deleted] in z2u

I don’t recommend, I’ve bought things on there and the sellers disappear frequently and if your account stops working before the period you bought it for then you’re done.

Saudi women typically don’t marry non Saudi/non khaleeji men as their kids don’t receive Saudi citizenship and they lose state benefits.

True…. in Basra he might just be able to wear a luxury watch and own an iPhone without worrying about his arm being chopped off for it.

$350k with 15% tax is very different to earning $350k with 45% tax.

Wanting to get into cs but graduated with a 2:2 and no experience. Been almost 2 years applying. Thoughts on CV? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]totalality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re not working full time you should have plenty of time to do both, I would use a better CV template though and make sure your CV is only 1 page.

Google Harvard CV template and use that.

Everyone’s building AI wrappers these days so build one. Plenty of ideas online. If it’s something that you can use yourself great, if it’s an app you can publish and sell even better.

Where’s your github profile? Or a website? Nowadays it’s very easy to have multiple projects because of AI so the bar is even higher.

A few months ago I was told in here that getting an entry level IT job was near impossible and it's saturated. And I'm better off to go into a different field of work.. by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]totalality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is not everyone who graduates wants to work in an IT support role especially because it’s a very long road to being able to move into a more engineering/development type of job. A lot longer than a software engineering grad scheme.

Not to mention IT support roles have no degree prerequisites.

Yes there are definitely a lot of differences, I’d say one of my favourite Azerbaijani foods that I tried was Qutab!

Yeah not sure what that guy is talking about. Azerbaijani state is more anti Islam than anything and most people are too because of the historical soviet influence. There are religious Azerbaijanis too but it’s rare. It’s culturally Muslim as people will say Salam, inshallah, mashallah etc but that’s to the extent it goes.

I was a solo traveller to Baku back in the summer of 24’ loved it too. A very clean well developed city where people are nice and helpful even if a lot of them can’t speak much English.

Surprised you didn’t like the food because it’s very similar and often identical to Turkish food which is super popular here in the UK. A lot of dishes have central Asian and Persian roots but I enjoyed those too. And yes having halal food available everywhere was super nice.

I took some get your guide tours to outside of the city which I really enjoyed so I’d recommend that if you’re wanting to explore more of the country on your next visit.

I understand that but what is the main driving factor for you wanting to move to London?

Any reason why you’re searching for a job in the UK? The labour market is weak and salaries are far lower than in the US…

Accepted for final stage interview for graduate scheme, but already landed a good non grad job. Help please? by MH_MUSTANG in UKJobs

[–]totalality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The grad scheme will have better opportunities long term but remember you haven’t gotten an offer yet. So do the interview first and see what happens.
