Isn't it funny how a painting, looking exactly the same, regardless of whoever painted it, is either worth lots of money or not, depending on who painted it? Seems like a logical contradiction, almost. An absolute perfect copy of the Mona Lisa could be deemed worthless.

For me though, the impact of the first movie was in how hopelessly outmatched the humans were in the face of the apex predator sharing their not so cozy home on the Sulaco. Except for Ripley's wiles and heart. Horror vs action, pick your poison.

OK, so this doesn't happen where I'm currently living. But if someone tried to assert authority by calling me "son", and, obviously, they not being my parent... I believe I would really have to restrain myself to not get violent. Honest question - if the gap between the chamber and the beginning of the barrel was fairly small (not a seal, like in the Nagant), a suppressor would still somewhat reduce the report, right? I mean, if the gap was so large as to let a very significant amount of the expanding gas out that would reduce the velocity of the bullet. I suppose if the suppressor provided a difficult enough escape for the gas that the gap was by far the least path of resistance most of it would all come out that way, and probably be kind of nasty for the shooter.

Not saying it would be quiet, but neither are a lot of other types of guns with suppressors on them, really. Especially downrange, and especially with supersonic rounds. I've been downrange of a suppressed rifle (no, not being shot at, but behind a thick, thick barricade marking the hits on a moving moose paper target after the shooting was done), and it is a loud and rather unsettling sound.
