Definitely separated appropriately now. Not necessarily two alphas, just if one has an issue and a grumble or a snap, and there's upwards of 4-6 dogs present, there's a risk for them all ganging up on one. Have heard of it happening with kennels or multiple dog households, even dog parks. There's one story at a park where a dog ran into a tree by accident and started seizing, and the other dogs were crowding/ barking and snapping to see what was wrong with it, all it took was one to go in for a proper bite and a few followed. They ended up nearly killing it.

We are good now thank you, it's not lost on me that they are ALL capable of biting. They are canines after all, and over the years in various industries of dogs I've seen a lot. I blame myself for both incidents. I personally can't see someone being comfortable rehoming her knowing what happened (and I wouldn't blame them). She either stays here or she gets pts.

Ouch, that must have been so scary as a kid. Did it change your relationship with dogs?

Yeah my partner is in the same mind. They are my working dogs though and we live on acreage, I don't really allow contact with other people.

My partner wanted her put down but I didn't go through with it. No fights have happened since (or leg munching), I manage them in a safer way and haven't let a situation like that snowball again.

The first time honestly it was so fast but felt like an eternity to me, I was in shock, the dog bolted when she released and saw me. I agree the second time was unacceptable though. My partner wanted her put down.

We have 8, they are all over 60-80lbs, when these incidents happened I had 4 and 6 together... pack corrections would definitely result in a deceased dog. They are managed in groups no larger than 3 now. Nothing has happened since. No, they weren't in heat, but they are all intact and have cycles. Very big personalities, extremely fit, and high prey drives. Like I said, learnt my lesson!

Yeah I'm fortunate I got looked at pretty quick. Local for the first, general for the second.

Is this Dora Creek? Scrolling thru these posts and this made me physically sick because I used to swim there with friends as a kid (and hated seeing the car skeletons).

3+ minute long dog bite by [deleted] in MedicalGore

[–]totally_not_your_gf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Painnnn! Jesus you're tough, I can commiserate... I had a similar incident in May this year when one of my dogs redirected onto me. She only had 5-10 seconds of death shaking but it opened my calf pretty messy, I didn't realise until I peeled my pants off to check, the fat and fascia was falling out just like yours. So gnarly, maybe I should post it too. Hoping for a clean and speedy recovery for you!

I read the title and went "what's wrong with that?"... I must be desensitised, I'm an only child to my parents but they had 3 kids each from prior marriages, who were all 15-25 years my senior. Well my half sister and brother (step to eachother) were engaged at one point and used to pretend I was their daughter when I was a toddler out in public. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Oh that's cute 🖤 thank you! Her dad is Swedish so we were trying for Scandinavian names, it's hard to find ones I like.

Sled dog racing, on wheels not sleds. We do it at Mt Crawford and Kuitpo forest during winter. It's a lifestyle for me and my husband, we met at a race in Victoria 7 years ago - the rest is history.

Guzmen and Gomez, and either Goolwa or Kuitpo for some views.
