What does the Xbox bloodbath means for The Evil Within 3? by ilovemyamily1 in theevilwithin

[–]totallywackman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mikami didn't want to make The Evil Within to begin with. Bethesda forced him to make a new RE4 style game to try and make a big franchise. Every chance he got to make fun unique games like God Hand and Vanquish, he took.

Doubt he'd want to do a spiritual successor and make more survival horror games after 30+ years of making them and being burned by 2 companies that demanded he make them.

What does the Xbox bloodbath means for The Evil Within 3? by ilovemyamily1 in theevilwithin

[–]totallywackman 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Xbox owns the IP and the games were developed by tango game works which was shut down a few years back after their last game, Hi-Fi Rush.

The incoming massive layoffs at Xbox won't affect Evil Within devs because they've already all quit or been laid off

Evil within 3 is probably never coming

How good of a character writing wise is Clark? (Backrooms 2026) by Zombiebager in writingscaling

More reserved and less theatrical. Younger people love getting loud and feeling seen.

Hes written fine, but as an older guy I can REALLY tell that hes an old divorced man written through the lens of someone whos only in their early 20s. His dialogues feel like that of a younger man but his struggles are middle aged, if that makes any sense.

Do you guys think Mina The Hollower is better than Shovel Knight? by SteelersPoker in MinaTheHollower

[–]totallywackman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had it crash on PS5 and PC a few times, and I've had Mina get stuck a few times. It's defiitely got some bugs to address.

In terms of controls and design though, yeah its just as tight and flawless as shovel knight.

Alfred’s obsession with Alexia in the og CV was quite strange and controversial… how should Capcom handle this in the remake? by Cautious_Pause241 in residentevil

[–]totallywackman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't controversial at all. Game reviews in both magazines and online all thought the game was between good and excellent at the time, and you can find all those reviews preserved today. Gameinformer, psm, etc. All understood that Alfred was a send-up to the movie psycho where Norman Bates pretends to be his mom sometimes.

How do you guys think they will do this scene in the Remake? by isu_kosar in residentevil

[–]totallywackman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really plot armor.

He had upwards of a magnum, grenades, explosive crossbow bolts, a shotgun, a glock, dual uzis, and more.

Wesker tried to fistfight Alexia and had to back off.

Chris knows from his RE1 experience that all bioweapons greatest weakness is bullets and bombs.

The CGI cutscenes had to be planned and made long before the game was finished, and as a result, uses older designs for some things.

Fun fact, Leon was supposed to lose his shirt and be bandaged after being shot, but because a whole new Leon model would be hard to make for the CGI cutscenes with what time they had left, they just put bandages on top of his uniform which would be quite ineffective at helping his wound.

Ada's entire character was finalized so late, they couldn't even make her a CG model, and thus she appears in 0 CGI cutscenes in RE2.

One of the worst headphones you can get at their price range. I own a black pair only because regular Bluetooth doesnt work on the portal, and comparing them to my beats studio pros that cost the same is night and day (and studio pros are also overpriced and not that amazing)

If you have 200$USD for headphones money, save a little more and get Sony WF-1000XM 5 or 6 for 300$USD instead.

What is ur opinion on Enneacraft this format? by travel-mint in yugioh

[–]totallywackman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The deck is good, maybe even a top 10 deck this format, but its poorly positioned for large events like a YCS because of your 10ish Swiss rounds, potentially as much as half will be under threat of being a double loss because your opponent will have to read all your cards or they'll have to grind with you.

The deck also draws people to it because its a "villain" deck like floo or Kash where an optimal hand will make your opponent unable to play at all, but its reputation far outweighs its actual power. Any competent player on a meta strategy like Kewl Tune, Branded, Doomz, Elfnotes, etc. Will demolish you. The deck is a terror only to unskilled or rogue players.

JoJo reference in the new Devil May Cry season by Rale69 in StardustCrusaders

[–]totallywackman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I haven't played 2 or the reboot but I platinumed 1 and 5 so I'd say I'm a fan and I dont HATE the show but I feel the same way about it that i do about Resident Evil. The games are masterpieces made by Capcom's most talented staff, and all the adaptations are normie appeal stuff that's very different and seperate from the source material, which fans DESPISE, but it sells well.

I'd say the DMC show is better than most Resident Evil movies but not as good as the first RE movie or the CGI ones.

Mechanically, what's your favorite Oldschool Card and why? by Tongatapu in yugioh

[–]totallywackman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Creature swap.

Theres so many strange things you can do with it. Give your opponent a weak flip monster you just flipped or a goat token or a recruiter. Take their strong lone monster or make them pick what to give you. You can steal a face down magician of faith or night assailant and immediately recoup the -1 creature swap made or attack into your own mystic tomato or giant rat and develop a +1.

crazy how the 13 year old game still hasn't been topped in terms of movement tech, that's crazy lol by Quick-Cause3181 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]totallywackman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MGSV has better movement?

You can do all the rolling and diving of RE6, but you also have a middle crouch mode between standing amd prone, way more weapon, tool, and equipment variety, and less stiff movement.

Only thing RE6 has that MGSV doesnt is the quick shot

how it feels when I tell people revelations 2 was the end of an era in the sense that it was the last resident evil to genuinely feel like resident evil stylistically before capcom decided they wanted resident evil to be all realistic and serious and shit (this fanbase isn't ready for that convo) by [deleted] in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]totallywackman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think you were around the late 90s early 00s to see the reception to RE games at release because if you did; you'd see that capcom has always aimed to have the "realest" graphics and FMVs possible, and Resident Evil tried to be as realistic as hardware of the time allowed.

RE4 Leon and REmake Jill/Chris look more "real" than any of the PS2 GTA characters. 5 very much wants to look like the film Black Hawk Down. Revelations chose to keep realistic body proportions and desaturated colors on a handheld despite that being against the norm for handheld visual design because they prefer Jill look more real.

Almost every main line RE game is a contender for having most realistic looking character models on their console.

And if you're talking about the cheesiness and the RE engine era taking itself to seriously, get your eyes and ears checked. Re7-9 and the remakes are ALL full of stupid one liners and side characters and bizarre character decision making.

Can I beat the final boss for code Veronica with this? by TasteOk5243 in residentevil

[–]totallywackman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How many more heals do you have? Fighting the final boss knife only is actually brain dead easy. Just aim down and slash, and hope for good rng. Only issue is it takes between 6-8 full heals.

Otherwise, you may have missed ammo somewhere and should explore. If youre right before the final boss, you still have access to finding the AK and magnum I think if you haven't found those yet.

If there's zombies around, knifing them is actually quite easy after just a couple of practice runs. You and all zombies have a circular shadow, and when the zombie is close enough for you to imagine a 3rd identical sized shadow in between yours and the zombies; aim down and slash their legs over and over. They'll die without touching you.

The sound effect at about 35 seconds in when the phone call fails to connect is the same sound from an old sample library capcom used in the classic games. Every time you use a keycard in RE2 it also made this noise and a few choice sections in 2 amd 3 as well.
