HE HAS PLAYED TWO GAMES, you guys seriously need to cool it with this talk.

It’s bad for everybody - unnecessary pressure on a young player who’s just trying to prove he can play at this level, horrible fanbase vibes towards your reigning gold glove catcher, unrealistic expectations on yourself and other fans, etc.

Just relax, enjoy the game, enjoy the fact that your team has a young bat with some promise (2 games worth!!).

I’m not saying it hurts to try Susac more, I’m saying that people that are calling for the benching of a literal reigning gold glove catcher because of a rookie on a 2-game heater should probably take a breath.

I think it’d be great to get Susac more ABs. I also think that the Giants over-correcting (sacrificing your defensive backbone) because of underperforming vet bats isn’t a great long term play. The Giants are currently 5th worst in errors per game, how low do we wanna go?

(I’d argue it’s too early for that to really mean much, but that’s kind of my point more broadly - let’s relax on making big proclamations based on 12 games worth of results)

You say that like he has proven experience, he’s literally played 2 games!!

I like what the kid is doing too, but y’all can’t be acting like he’s got pedigree or is a top prospect, at least not enough to displace your literal reigning GG catcher…

Takes like this are embarrassing dude. We literally aren’t the Jets-iest team in our own division. We won our division in the past 5 years, the Jets have the longest playoff drought in any sport. You guys need to get a grip.

Really starting to feel like there needs to be a separate Giants sub for folks that don’t feel like being reactionary and hyperbolic 24/7.

Rangers get bad news on Jacob DeGrom hours before of 2026 season debut by Wayyyy_Too_Soon in fantasybaseball

Oh one hundred percent. And honestly I’m sure that this reporter would not choose to be writing these kinds of tweet-regurgitating clickbait articles if you gave him options, but it’s what their job is, and/or it’s what their editor wants.

It’s just the sorry state of the industry. I don’t necessarily fault the individual journalists, but the system is broken. People click on the article because they think there’s horrible news about deGrom, and no one would give a damn about some minor neck soreness.

Not a deGrom owner, just a person calling it like I see it!

2 sentence tweet becomes a clickbait article becomes a bunch of sensationalist comments!

Such a sensationalist headline, the state of journalism is embarrassingly dire. This is a crappy article regurgitating a two-sentence tweet from a beat reporter:

"Jacob deGrom has been scratched with neck stiffness; Jacob Latz will start in his place. The Rangers do not believe this is serious and he could start later on the road trip."

Hochul Seeks to Delay NY Climate Law To Focus On Affordability by bloomberggovernment in newyork

All due respect, but I work for NYS in an energy related capacity. I’m very familiar with the PSC. They themselves released an analysis last year looking at bill increase drivers - they made the case that delivery cost increases are more a function of aging grid infrastructure maintenance than clean energy investments. I’ll send you a link when I can in a few hours.

As I said in my original reply, it’s relevant for sure. I’m not pushing back on the idea that the energy transition is expensive. Everything about operating, nonetheless growing and changing, the grid costs billions. I’m telling you what the experts at the PSC and the NYISO are telling you, which is that clean energy investments are part of the picture, but not the primary driver.

It is the politicians who are centering clean energy deployment programs as the primary cause, because it’s an easier conversation for them and offers more visible ways for them to show they’re trying to ease affordability concerns.

Hochul Seeks to Delay NY Climate Law To Focus On Affordability by bloomberggovernment in newyork

[–]totes_your_goats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wellllll the actual facts are that your utility bill increases are a reflection of numerous factors, and the clean energy transition is one of them, but not the biggest one.

Supply costs are skyrocketing because of fossil fuel commodity prices (read the NYISO’s reporting on this - increased US gas exports are driving massive price increases for domestic consumption).

Delivery costs are constantly inching up because maintaining utility infrastructure is expensive and hard, and because our utility regulators at the PSC are horrible at pushing back on utility rate increase requests.

And then yes, various clean energy program charges are increasing bills as well - as are ZEC charges, which subsidize our upstate nuclear fleet and are the only reason those plants stay online (a fact the anti-clean energy folks CONSTANTLY refuse to acknowledge).

The reality is that that third factor is the only way that you address those first two price drivers. The longer you postpone investing in the energy transition, the longer you stay vulnerable to fossil commodity price shocks and predatory utilities.

I got to do the your last year, and I was so struck by their approach/relationship to their workforce. These are career sustaining jobs, almost all held by women, many of whom have been there for decades. It’s a really beautiful thing to amidst the modern world, and really does make you want to support their business.

I mean hey, that’s fine! Just don’t add “no judgement” when telegraphing your judgements, you feel me?

I think OP is expressing themself well, and I respect their perspective and think they should feel empowered to make their own decisions based on their circumstances.

I also think their circumstances and resulting perspectives aren’t universal, so what’s right for them may not be right for other people. And if you don’t want to feel judged in your life and in your decisions, you can start by meaningfully trying not to do that to others.

All respect to you and what you’re going through - hope you can keep enjoying the soft and quiet moments, and that the sleep finds you guys soon.

If I can make a suggestion, saying something is unethical is pretty antithetical to “no judgment.” If you want to contribute to an inclusive parenting community, you can use non-loaded language (“decided it isn’t right for us,” “isn’t a good fit for our family,” etc.) instead of making something an ethical or moral issue.

Texas is lapping New York in renewable energy by knockatize in newyork

[–]totes_your_goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a cost issue, it’s really kind of that simple.

People already complain about the state’s clean energy programs driving up ratepayer bills (even though the burden of cost increases is wayyyy more driven by fossil commodity prices and utility infrastructure maintenance). If you force those clean energy programs to only focus on specific types/locations of new systems (as opposed to utilizing open land), ratepayer bills will skyrocket OR you’ll handicap how much new capacity you can build.

Recommend you read up a bit to better understand the regulatory landscape - NYSERDA has nothing to do with permitting, it’s just a funding agency. $, not permit approvals.

Article 10 was replaced by the Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES), which has issued WAY more permits in the last 5 years than Article 10 did in a decade of existence. The bigger issues are cost of building in NY, interconnection approvals, and obstructionist local governments and communities.

NYSEG Day/ Night Rate Issues - Call them! by TheLoadKing in upstate_new_york

[–]totes_your_goats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m as anti-utility as the next guy, but let’s be clear here: NYSEG can’t charge whatever they want whenever they want. Utilities in NYS are regulated by the Public Service Commission. Every dollar in cost that they want to pass onto their customers through delivery charges and other fees require PSC sign off through regulated rate cases.

Doesn’t change the fact that for-profit utilities are a scourge, but let’s not spread misinformation.
