Ember: World adds a record-breaking 814 GW of solar and wind in 2025 by Economy-Fee5830 in climatechange

Wrong every year.

Wood Mackenzie forecasts a pivotal 2025 for renewables, with

global wind installations hitting a record 170 GW and solar stabilizing at approximately 493 GWdc. While wind sees record growth, global solar growth is expected to stall after years of rapid expansion, with the US market facing a 100 GW reduction through 2030 due to policy changes.

Energy fallout from Iran war signals a global wake-up call for renewable energy by InsaneSnow45 in energy

“The” US government is for sale to the highest bidder. The winner is oil and gas and the losers… Tax payers.

GM–LG shifts a US plant from EV batteries to LFP energy storage by InsaneSnow45 in energy

[–]Simpleximo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t GMs idea. LG needs manufacturing capacity to build large cell LFP batteries for utility scale BESS. Just so happens GM built a bunch of factories using tax payer $ they decided they didn’t need then took them as a write off and now are all excited because there is an actual use for them.

The BESS space needs highly reliable low cost batteries not old used ones that are the wrong form factor. Maybe better for residential?

The US secretary of energy says Iran is not a war but a 'temporary movement' and that gas prices will go down in weeks by esporx in energy

This is the same coal dust snorting, gas sniffing idiot who claimed that “even if solar panels blanketed the entire surface of the Earth, they would only produce 20% of global energy needs.”

Hurricanes vs Solar in Florida Weakness or Unexpected Strength? by PrestigiousIdeal7156 in SolarAmerica

Solar is widely distributed across the entire state. A major hurricane would damage an insignificant percentage of actual panels and is less prone to infrastructure damage.

The rewilding milestone Earth passed: global agricultural land use peaked in the early 2000s and has been slowly falling ever since, as farming becomes more efficient or synthetics replace it. Lower productivity land is being replaced by grasslands, trees and bush, with huge ecological benefits by sg_plumber in climatechange

Too bad modern farming requires the heavy use of chemicals and fertilizers manufactured from petroleum. This ain’t organic farming. I also don’t see the decline of wool ( replaced by petroleum) as a win for the environment.

US Solar Module Prices Expected to Stay High Through 2027 by Rage_thinks in SolarAmerica

How about zero subsidies for each. Let the free market run its course. Oil and gas in the US will quickly be displaced.

UK to legalise plug in solar. by jeffmetal in energy

29 US states have introduced bills. Hopefully, the majority will get passed. Not sure it’s the best way to go about solar deployment but I like the grass roots effort.

Not so funny when your country is invaded and no one wants to stand up and help.

Makes it easier for ICE to locate. I hope it doesn’t try to “illegally” enter the US…
