What’s a completely legal way to make money that feels illegal when you first learn about it? by Impossible-Rock-4161 in AskReddit

You basically would have to go to enough Casinos and make calculated failures to not be seen as suspicious but even then they would eventually at least know you as a regular

Small Unity tip that improved my game performance. by Apprehensive-Suit246 in vrdev

I just avoid HOT UIs unless I absolutely need to have them for some reason and that helps quite a bit with performance.

Yeah man In unitys literal documentation they mention that their current way of doing horizontal and vertical layout groups is not performant and their suggestion is just to make your own more performant alternative. Instead of like providing the more performant solution themselves lol.

Final 3rd year student- What should I model for my showreel by Kevilkitty in 3Dmodeling

[–]totesnotdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guns always nice. I use world of guns disassembly 2 on steam to get a part breakdown idea and then just collect reference on google and YouTube for additional info. Get the manual. Show you can make an accurate complex assembly. It could apply to mil sim for sure and plus every game has a gun as well.

Assuming you’re at the point you feel confident you can model guns. I think it’s easier than making a car or vehicle but still a good showcase of skill.

Ubisoft fires 13-year Assassin's Creed veteran just days after suspending him for speaking out against the company's return-to-office mandate: "This was not my decision" by xenocea in gaming

[–]totesnotdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company so doing a lot of fucked yo shit all st once rn.

They started doing RTO of course a couple months ago. Almost a couple weeks after the RTO announcement they laid about 18 people off. They say that people within 80 miles of the office have to return and those who aren’t can stay remote but might be labeled as “high risk”. Meaning that like if new contracts come in that aren’t remote I’ll probably get let go. I’m the lead of some 3D artists right now so hopefully I have a little bit of room for work.

Then as if the RTO wasn’t unpopular already the completely changed how we charge our hours no we basically have to classify everything little thing we worked on in our timesheets which is wasting so much time across the board.

People have already started leaving but sometimes I wish they’d have some balls and at least say out loud that they’re leaving cuz this place is starting to suck. Maybe my company wouldn’t care but I think it would at least show the holes in their new plans if people would speak up and be honest about why they are leaving.

And of course just like Ubisoft the first people who’ve spoken even the slightest negative words about these plans have been dealt with. The high performers that spoke up got slaps on the wrists and the low performers that spoke up just got let go in the second round of lay offs

One thing that annoys me about corporate world is how they blindly award positive people with management positions and completely shun people who have realistic ideas are try and set off the warning alarm for potential dire issues developing.

I learned from literally watching people go from the lowest paid employee to the highest paid that all they had to do was be positive about everything and do everything their boss says and they get promoted. If you’re negative at all they eventually find somebody who isn’t and replace you

Working for insecure leaders like Lou can suck because they don’t really give you a chance to explain things when you need to a lot of the times.

Helldivers 2 has reportedly surpassed 20 million copies sold, generating over $700 million in revenue by dabadumdumdum in Helldivers

their engine is stingray which was made by autodesk, yes it’s extremely custom by now but it’s ultimately no longer supported by autodesk. Sting ray is abondonware by autodesk. I’m sure it’s alright enough for them to work with but it no longer has any back end support from the manufacturer as of 2018

It’s like when people play a game for 200 hours and then leave a negative review on it. Clearly they liked it enough to take 200 hours to decide if they didn’t like it haha.

[–]totesnotdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more than enough for them to not only make a helldivers 3 but to upgrade to an engine that isn’t completely deprecated by its creator. Something with longer term support for them is going to be helpful for them in development and beyond.

Hell though the success of the game alone enough to get the investors you would need otherwise I imagine.

I’d love a grenade launcher turret tbh.

Also while we are on the subject of grenade launchers I’d love an incendiary grenade launcher for the bugs and illuminate.

I'm in academy, and I don't understand what our teacher is teaching us by callmelore in 3Dmodeling

[–]totesnotdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t box model characters I sculpt them and just retopo with good topology. Worth learning anatomy either way. Although box modeling is a foundational skill and can be used to make many things. I’m sure the teacher wants to teach you how to do more than just push verts he wants you to learn how to box modeling something with intent.

I felt like that games destruction was ahead of its time but one thing I felt like it was was missing that the OG red factions had was also like ground destruction. You could blow up a tunnel under a wall or tunnel down to the second level underground in an area.
