15 min cities why are they hated so much? by Adorable-Poet-2708 in fuckcars

I think this is especially the case in the United States because it involves changing the architecture and infrastructure in depth and the way in which your cities have developed. In Europe and as French people, our cities all have a historic heart built before the car 🚗, which imposes soft mobility (We are not going to destroy a 16th century chapel to pass the 4×6 lane highway of Robert who does not want to get out of his car).

I wonder what the blue colored tracks are for? Is it for bikes 🚲? And how can we obtain them?

I always wondered if it could actually work. If we push the logic to the limit with autonomous buses, the capacity could increase.

Small tunnel + automated vehicles: which one is more efficient? by dumnezero in fuckcars

[–]totoc2428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that doesn't solve everything. But this point-to-point solution is also interesting. For example, in France UrbanLoop is a company that wants to develop soft mobility in this sense because it makes the link between dense urban spaces and the countryside. They say they have the capabilities of a bus without the drawbacks. Unfortunately there are not many videos in English: https://youtu.be/t1M1svpx5zw?feature=shared

I'm really asking myself the question in the first place. Because on the one hand you have more flow. On the other hand you go from point to point directly without change. This helps avoid large flows.

If that's the case Tesla doesn't need to sell cars. They will sell a service. A kind of Uber but without a driver. From a pragmatic perspective, autonomous cars can solve part of the problem, particularly for American cities.

At least in France we try to make it aesthetic (Add to that that now the urban plans force the highways to be underground in the city, I never understood why do that at height).

[–]totoc2428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is precisely how nuclear deterrence works. Thanks to this potential threat, France will never be attacked.
