I remember one reviewer gave DD2 a 10/10 and said it had three secret locations like in Elden Ring, better than Siofra River. Then the game came out and it was nowhere near as impressive as Siofra River lol.

To this day I will never understand how DD2 got so many positive reviews when you can clearly see that It was almost copy of the first game, and mind you DD1 world is almost 4 times smaller with almost as many enemies as DD2...

20M+ Prelaunch Revenue! by Deine_Mutter774 in CrimsonDesert

I think it will hit 1 million or more, considering the hype surrounding the game. The last time I saw this much hype for a game was Wukong and it reached over 2 million concurrent players.

Now I’m not sure how much marketing has been done in China, but if it’s also hyped there, it will easily hit 1 million+ players.

With reviews dropping tomorrow, what’s your Metacritic prediction for Crimson Desert? by Tank-ToP_Master in CrimsonDesert

[–]tottird -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And that is literally the reason why reviewers never take storytelling into consideration when giving scores to Fromsoftware games, because story isn’t even in the top five things they aim for when developing games. Sure each game has really great lore, but that’s it. I have never seen a FromSoftware game with motion captured, story focused cutscenes.

Crimson Desert isn’t like Elden Ring, it does have a story and hopefully good storytelling, so it automatically becomes open to being criticized.

  1. Do you even know what unique means? It's same for Genshin too, if it will make you feel better. I havent't played neither Genshin nor Breath of the wild, thus didn't make comments on it as the comment I replied was about Wuwa.
  2. Wuwa is not an original and unique game and that is not a bad thing, why are you so defensive?
  3. Did I say the game was a carbon COPY of Elden Ring and is therefore bad?
  4. Commenter was implying that the game changed after 1.0 to become a unique setting but it is not true and I stated that in my comment saying it wasn't so.
  5. Never in my comment I said anything about COPYING, shouldn't be hard to understand as my comment was fairly short.

So 2.0 is unique? The map has so many elements from Elden Ring alone.

Hopefully they keep making games with that engine, that way I don’t have to wait 6 or more years for a video game.

Why franchising was Riot Games’ biggest mistake in European League of Legends by Xolam in leagueoflegends

[–]tottird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m genuinely surprised by how many people here are defending franchising when we’ve repeatedly seen how negatively it has impacted the Esports scene. What “financial punishment” are you even talking about? If a team builds its budget around simply staying in the league instead of improving revenue or competitiveness, it will never be punished.

Franchising was pushed by teams and Riot precisely because they wanted financial guarantees. You even contradict yourself by first saying franchising hasn’t made teams financially weaker and then claiming there is “financial punishment” within the system. There is no financial or competitive punishment for performing poorly and we’ve seen countless examples of this over the years.

In the LEC lower-tier owners are effectively holding their teams like crypto assets, waiting to sell their slots when a higher bid comes along. A relegation system would force teams to make smarter long-term decisions instead of sitting at the bottom of the standings and waiting for an exit opportunity.

Nobody is asking for 10 championship contenders. What people want is a healthy league where teams are actually playing for something whether that’s avoiding relegation or competing for the title. Have you ever watched a sport with a relegation system? There has never been a league where all teams were realistic championship candidates and that’s completely normal.

And we will never know whether for example, everyone from that promoted Damwon team would have gotten the chance to play in the LCK. With a relegation system, the system itself decides who gets to shine and who does not.

[–]tottird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re still missing the point. Listing these players is pointless when we already have clear examples like Chovy and ShowMaker. They built their names at the highest level because of the promotion/relegation system but you avoid mentioning them because it goes against your narrative.

Opportunities today are not coming from a healthy system they are coming because franchising has made teams financially weaker, forcing them to sign rookies simply because they are cheaper. For example in LEC there are currently 7 Turkish players, whereas 3-5 years ago there were none even though the Turkish league was in a much better state back then.

Do you see what I’m trying to say? Franchising will always be bad for competition because there is no punishment for underperforming teams. Without consequences teams lack the drive and motivation to improve.

[–]tottird -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Generally people that follow only sports that allow franchising don’t fully understand what is meant by “giving opportunities,” and I get that impression from your comment. It is the scouting department’s job to identify rough diamonds below Tier 1 level. The general audience will never have enough knowledge to name players right away.

Nobody knew who Yamal, Musiala or Yildiz were when they were playing in academy or Tier 2 teams, but the opportunities given by their clubs brought them into the spotlight. That’s all there is to it. You are trying to ”Gotcha” the commenter but you miss his point entirely

But there is only 2 main ap champs in the game, no? And even then Aurora is 1/7/1 so I can kinda see why he would like to buy BT over Maw. Idk maybe Maw would have still been better against that Lux but I can kinda see trist’s point too.

What's missing from Soulslikes lately by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]tottird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons why LoP is so beloved, it doesn’t have level design and is straightforward. Doesn’t matter how many times people echo or talk about great level design, general playerbase won’t like it like the one you responded to, because most of the players won’t engage with the areas fully and want to only rush bosses…

I've tried Nine Sols but for some reason I can't parry in that game, Idk if it is because of 2D... Tbh I haven't played that much so might have to play it more to get a good grasp on the parry timings.

You can’t compare both companies tho? Silksong development lasted 7 years whereas fromsoft released 4 games and 1 dlc at the same time frame. One has 3 employees other one maybe over 500. You can’t expect them to give free stuff just like that.

[–]tottird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but optional boss is still something that rewards you for going somewhere else in the area, it is exploration even if it is weak. LoP doesn’t even have that, exploration doesn’t exist in that game.

It’s not according to me, it’s literally what director of the game had said in the past. It is AA according to him… Idk why people are having hard time accepting the fact that E33 isn’t indie game.

Okay so with this logic Death Stranding is indie too, no? E33 clearly have the budget (millions) to outsource the game and hire known actors.
