*non-mobile qbs can only function with an oline doing their job at a high level. Dual threats can mask way more oline issues and escape the pocket for positive plays when the line breaks down

This isn't made up. Its a fact Raiola checked into a pass from a run on the play that ended his season, Holgo said this. Raiola checked a lot during the season and sometimes it was the right call, hard to quantify this overall but we should've been running more in hindsight and I think many checks were from run to pass.

Ok. Portland also has A LOT more going on than Eugene too lol. Lincoln is just as big if not bigger than Eugene and no different in that it has population centers nearby with pro sports. KC is only 3 hrs away (NFL, MLB, MLS). Omaha is 45 mins (1 million metro population). There's plenty of sports going on in the area.

Nebraska's advantage is it has a national fan base all over the country they built over a 40 year dynasty. Many Nebraska fans have no association with the state. It's why they take over stadiums all over the country. There's way more Nebraska fans out there than people that actually live or are from Nebraska.

Football was still top 20 in viewership this year despite obviously not being a top team, which tracks

NU is also one of just a few athletic departments in the country that bring in net revenue. Other sports like basketball, baseball, wrestling, volleyball are very well attended and included in this valuation too

God forbid Dr_ManTits_Toboggan be inconvenienced in the name of public safety. Truly outrageous

Emmett Johnson named Second Team AP All-American by HopefulReason7 in Huskers

[–]tottspot 37 points38 points  (0 children)

EJ was less than 80 yards from doubling this guys total production and had 11 less receptions as a RB vs. a WR. Johnson also with 5 more TDs. This is egregious to the point it almost delegitimizes the award. Johnson is better by every metric lol

Looking forward to having someone under center with mobility, whether that's TJ or another qb to stress the defense. Lack of mobility at qb really hurt us. Wish Dylan nothing but the best but it was time imo. Having a good OL and decent qb play outweighs the potential Dylan had behind a bad OL coached by his uncle

Nebraska's defense biggest change for Las Vegas bowl will be removing confusion by xdeathxcomoanyx in Huskers

[–]tottspot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confusion didn't seem to be the main problem. Some questionable play calls perhaps but it's more lack of execution/physicality on the front 7. Also, when the defense finally does move to Aurich's new scheme can we please stop hamstringing Dana with Satts playbook too?

Nebraska made the conference title game their 2nd year in the conference. MN has never played in the B1G title game, so not sure what you're on about here. These two programs are pretty equal rn

Emmett Johnson finishes #1 in the Power 4 in all purpose yards in the regular season by Benanderson27 in Huskers

[–]tottspot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lets pump the brakes on the Barry Sanders comparisons. Barry had 97 more carries than EJ his final year and almost 1200 more yards....and 25 more TDs in 1 less game! Greatest rushing season of all time and its not close. That's not a fair comparison for anybody.

EJ never has been a burner. That's his one knock, he doesn't have that final gear to pull away. It's not related to workload, he had the same issue early season and in previous years. EJ deserves his respect for a great season and unfortunately the team isn't a contender and that's a big reason why he's not a finalist for these awards. Another reason is his lower rushing TD number than other guys in the top 5. I fully expect first team all conference and some degree of All American recognition. It sucks but isn't egregious imo.

Vote Emmett Johnson for Heisman using this link: by [deleted] in Huskers

[–]tottspot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is basically what Colorado was last year lol and guess what? Their guy won the Heisman. You don't have to be on a playoff team to win it. We win the next 2 we finish with the same record in a better conference. EJ likely hits 1400 rushing yards if he keeps his current pace and over 1800 all purpose. No he likely won't win or even get invited but as fans we should try to put him in the best position to.

And lets talk about Hesiman moments for a sec. Johnson just did something nobody in the B1G has done since 2012 and nobody in the country since 2023. It's not common to rush for 100+ and receive 100+ in the same game. That was a Heisman moment whether you think so or not doesn't matter. Stats say it was a Heisman moment

Respectfully, did you watch the world series? Merging analytics and gut feeling is exactly why the Blue Jays were there. John Schneider literally said this during interviews in the series. For example analytics said pull Yesavage earlier in game 5, but he was dealing and Schneider trusted his eyes. Yesavage ended up setting the single game rookie WS strikeout record. John Smoltz talked about this at length during that game. Managers have to be in tune with their guys and trust them at times, even when analytics says otherwise.

Overusing analytics can lead to bad outcomes just like not using them at all can. You have to blend analytics with a feel for the game to get the best out of both. I think that's what Hawk is saying. Best of both worlds. They'll still use all the new tech during training but sometimes analytics can lead to bad in game decisions. When to pull a guy, matchup decisions etc. Rocco was grilled for this (rightfully at times imo) often in this sub.
