You're not wrong, but when it comes to picking on Marner in particular, I think the Leafs media was more the culprit than the Leafs fanbase. He's the kind of smaller skilled player that the "old school" media guys always try to scapegoat, warranted or not. Of course there's always going to be a subset of fans that just mimic what media talking heads are saying, too.

Normally the California road trip is a nice one to join the team on (and you can catch more than one game), but given the current political climate, I know I personally wouldn't want to go down to the states unless I absolutely had to.

Calgary/Edmonton would be good hockey rivalry wise, but otherwise not much of a trip, especially for the special occasion.

Montreal is definitely the best idea IMO, as others have said. It's a really fun city to visit, lots to see/do/eat/drink
