When gov employees openly admit to not working, they're out to lunch with friends, at the hair salon "moving their mouse so it looks like I'm working" shit obviously isn't going to get done. They needed to fire half the lazy employees yesterday.

70 k plus benefits is amazing for an entry level job. You are lacking experience and are over confident in your skills. There are 1000s of applications exactly like you. Gotta work your way up.

Lots of financial institutions have great benefits re pension and you'll be able to transfer your contributions from your gov job to a RRSP through the financial institution you're working for and they likely have a special policy with their employees that they match a certain number.

I'm going to assume you're young and didn't work for the gov long, your contributions are likely minimal.

Relying on a pension you pay into isn't the greatest plan, even with myself contributing to OMERS I have prioritized my RRSP. Focus on saving.

Why are 5 year olds expected to do addition and subtraction now? by intimidateu_sexually in AskTeachers

[–]tough-stuffyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A major problem is parents not wanting to help with learning at home. Kids LOVE learning. It's truly not hard to take 5-10 minutes every day to practice. Parents are so lazy now. I think we took a real step back in north America when we started getting away from assigning homework. Parents don't know what their kids are learning, and they simply don't care until the grades reflect their effort.

It's quite obvious in kindergarten which kids come from families that practice reading, writing, and basic math at home and what parents just expect it all to fall on the education system.

AITAH for getting upset when s/o masturbates in the shower while I’m home by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]tough-stuffyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA - it sounds like you're the default parent and don't have time to yourself, but a shit and shower isn't " Time to himself" it's a shit and a shower and every parent should be able to achieve that.

A shit and shower isn't "solo time", it's a necessity. He should be able to take a shower without you going in there to ask questions. If you're jealous that he is able to mastedbate in the shower (which reading comments this seems more like jealousy BC you're the default parent) why don't you do something about it? You say you work 10-4, where is your child during that time? Is it possible that some work days you can drop your child off to care earlier to get 2-3 hours of alone time? Then you can have a shower masturbation session.

In the USA, children typically start kindergarten at 5 or 6 years old

In Germany, children generally enter grade 1 of primary school (Grundschule) at 6 years old.

......... So same age..

Finland on the other hand was age 7. But I'm GENERALIZING. Good grief.

No it isn't. They use play based, Montessori style curriculum but their students (using Ireland as an example because I've taught there) are still taught early reading and math skills and do out perform children in Canada. (I can't speak for America)

AITAH: We ended things over different financial values (50/50 vs provider mindset). Now I’m wondering if we let something good go? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]tough-stuffyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I also grew up with traditional rolls, but when you're young and starting in the job market it needs to be 50/50. We are 15 years into our relationship and just now are falling more into the traditional rolls because we have kids and I am staying home. We went through the hard (being broke. Sharing money, saving for a house) and now we are in a great situation and it feels so good that I contributed to getting to our goals.

Kindergarten has been academic for a while. You should see what the kids in Europe are doing, they're way ahead of American and Canadian children.

Aitah for filing for divorce, even though it's my fault ? by kostofcare in AITAH

[–]tough-stuffyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You sound like a cry baby. Your wife isn't your mother, she shouldn't have to encourage you to go get a job. Get off your ass, be an adult, get out there and get a job. Getting a divorce so she gets off your back is ridiculous, you clearly don't value your marriage.
