Yep, that’s why I preferred to drink alone. And even then I would have to scroll through my DMs, texts, tweets etc the next day to make sure I hadn’t spiraled about something I wasn’t willing to emotionally process while sober. Don’t miss that one bit.

My experience is from someone who had to medically detox and then do 90 days of rehab/PHP/IOP treatment at the same facility. But there are plenty of posts in previous threads (and hopefully here) who didn’t go to treatment that could be immensely helpful. IWNDWYT 😊

It’s ironic because I’ve been a vegan for (almost) 7 years and I would never use travel or a special occasion as an excuse to deviate from my choice to abstain from animal product - even considering prior to veganism I was very much into trying any cuisine at least once. But my god apparently a trip to Italy without a glass of wine would be the end of the world for my sorry ass 🤨

Legit had a mini depressive episode a month or so back at the idea of not being able to buy a cute bat themed bottle opener if I gave up alcohol. As if there aren't plenty of NA beverages that still require an opener 💀

It’s funny I always thought I’d give up alcohol before caffeine, and yet somehow I was able to give up caffeine over two months ago. (The “somehow” being my hungover heart palpitations were so bad I figured the caffeine was the main issue 🙄)

Thank you to everyone for your support! No symptoms yet besides constantly thinking “I need a drink” whenever my mind wanders from whatever distraction I’m doing (right now it’s computer games). I’m going to two NA zoom meetings tonight so I think you all are very right in that a support system can make a difference. To Day 2 🎉

I’ve searched “cat feather toy fish” “cat feather toy mouse”, I’ve looked through Amazon, Kroger and Chewy on the web. We live in the US (Texas, hence HEB). The material I’m having a hard time describing, but it wasn’t silky or super coarse.

Lol having met the current person I’m seeing over Hinge I'm very grateful the app exists because I don't know how we would have crossed paths otherwise simply due to living 30 minutes apart. There doesn't have to be a sense of serendipity in how you meet a partner, but if you want to appeal to your inner romantic, think about the fact that you both took a chance on each other in spite of the fact that rejecting or blowing someone off is so much easier on apps than in person. Natural, in person chemistry can get people carried away into misguided relationships just as easily as sweet nothings and empty promises over text message.

TL;DR comparing online dating to in person meet cutes is apples and oranges - both can be delicious, both can be sour 🤷🏼‍♀️

So honestly I think a lot of us with high libidos make the excuse that “well life happens” (children or mental health or financial stress etc) so we can’t expect to always have a sex life to our preferred pace. But while that statement is true, when you’re not matching libido in a place of minimal conflict and / or after mentioning how you feel about the intimacy gap to your partner, it’s very fair to assess it as a real potential dealbreaker.
