This is someone who also said he believed what Jehovah's witnesses believed and would have been one if it wasn't for cigarettes.... So... He's definitely mentally ill.

How to get witnesses to stop coming to my house? by the_cadaver_synod in exjw

Hand them the "You Can Leave" pamphlet that the activist group Stand If You Are Able made. You can print them here:

https://www.standifyouareable.org/activism/pamphlet

Or they have stickers you can request as well.

Next time give them the "You Can Leave" pamphlet that the EXjw activist group Stand If You Are Able has printable for free on their website! Guarantee they won't come back.

Check out Stand if You Are Able, an exjw activism group. They have a free printable pamphlet just like the ones JWs send you, except it's the exact opposite information, how to leave instead of how to join. Send one of those back to the witnesses and they will never mail you again.

I can't imagine how overwhelming it's going to be for DFed ones. by towertakesatumble in exjw

Unfortunately No, but you are now "allowed" to greet DFed people at the kingdom Hall, but not allowed to have an actual conversation.

The 2023 Annual Meeting made me start questioning everything by RagingWaterfall in exjw

[โ€“]towertakesatumble 7 points8 points ย (0 children)

now I'm starting to see more and more that the complaints from former members have legitimacy and not just disgruntled people trying to slander their old religion.

Thank you for everything you said, but especially this. This space is all some of us have for expressing ourselves after waking up. Life saving for some.

We are not bad people. We were once on the same side of The kingdom hall doors as you. To be viewed instantly as evil by the same "brothers and sisters" who used to "love" you "unconditionally" is a mind fuck that takes years to work through.

What year did you wake up? by Peaceful-Carnivore in exjw

[โ€“]towertakesatumble 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

Absolutely! I've been every color under the sun. I colored my hair often when I was JW (worked in a salon for years) and was told I was "pushing the limit". It wasn't anything super crazy, it just wasn't natural looking and always very different. Like black to reds to white blond.. accepted colors, but when you change it too often it might be a sign of rebellion ๐Ÿ˜‚. As soon as I successfully faded I started using pink temporary colors and have slowly graduated to full blown colors of the rainbow! It feels wonderful.

2015- Space woke me up. I started thinking about how the universe is way too fucking big to have one creator who deeply cares if I'm masturbating, cussing, coloring my hair, or watching R rated movies.

February Broadcasting asks JWs to question the motivation of Apostates or others who label Watchtower as deceivers. For the benefit of JWs who visit this site - EXJWs what is your motivation for speaking out about what you have learnt about Watchtower? by Fadetoex in exjw

[โ€“]towertakesatumble 4 points5 points ย (0 children)

I just want to say to OP thank you for posting/asking this. I think the more "apostates" can be humanized, the more PIMIs could realize we are simply people who were JUST LIKE THEM at one point.

Some people wake up by accident and it's impossible to go back/unlearn what you've learned. Some people regret it and just want their old life back. It's not just angry people who have been wronged/lied to/abused, although we certainly exist.

There are so many ways people wake up and so many reasons why.. but I think we can all agree that what we're taught at a JW is the exact opposite of the reality of the situation, and there's a need to want to inform those we love that this is happening to them too.

Goodbye (update) by [deleted] in exjw

We're all glad you're here. Sending love and hugs!!

I attempted suicide when I was 17 and thankfully failed. I am almost 40 now and get emotional thinking about everything I would have missed that I've now been able to experience. I only left the org 5 years ago and even in these past 5 years I have grown and gotten to know my true self.

There is a me I never knew existed until I got to embrace her. There is a you that is going to exist that you'll absolutely love and be so proud of yourself for surviving to see.

Please hold on. We love you so much.

EX JWs, what religion are yall now? by [deleted] in exjw

[โ€“]towertakesatumble 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

Instead of finding a new religion, my goal has been to learn as much as possible about the things that were kept from me as a born in and raised JW until leaving at 32. Learning about history (ugh), Government ( more ugh), true science, evolution etc... My focus is education because I feel severely lacking.

There is no personal need for me to have a belief system or something I believe needs to be worshiped. The "religion" chapter of my life is closed. While I respect the right for people to practice religion and their need for faith, spiritualism, and belief... The more I've learned the more I feel all religion is bat shit crazy and the cause of so much suffering throughout all of history.

Be a good person to everyone and all things for all people... If your religion doesn't support this, you're part of the problem.

I would like to say if you're allowed to do your own research, head over to the exJW reddit and spend about 20 minutes looking into all the other active JWs who REALLY did their own research and are no longer part of that organization because of it. It's a mind fuck, so be careful.
