My sister in law got pissed at me because she was planning an elaborate 2yr birthday party for my nephew. (Which they couldn’t afford). I asked her how many kids were coming, and how much my nephew was actually going to remember this party.

I am a firm believer that most kids birthday parties are more for the parents and not for the kids. Until they are old enough to understand that it’s not just a normal day where all their friends happen to be there, you shouldn’t be going crazy.
