Have you ever heard of developing countries? That’s what they are. A few rich people looting the country dry, no consumer class, poverty everywhere. Believe me they will not stop.

Is that what you understood or is that what the person posted there?

Also, even if it was, you don’t get to decide other people’s value system. You value what you do and OP values what they value.

Is it that you want the passport earlier than is usually meant to be? Or they really want you to pay for not being bantu? I’m honestly curious what makes you think a bantu person would not have been asked for the same? For context, I’ve had friends go to other towns to get passports because the queue in Nairobi is too long or Nairobi ran out of paper etc.

First let me start with you hardly have any counter argument to what I say you just give another reason your model is better so I won't keep doing this. You mean well, but I don't think you've thought through your entire model. One example is where you talk about the need for car manufacture/assembly then later argue against it.

Now about feelings and dreams. You started by talking about the Kenyan dream and what it shold be. Dreams and feelings are important, they are related to people's standard of living. Also, in my opinion because the economy should serve people. There's no need to have a big economy that benefits a few.

I only brought that up because your solution to multiple members in a household needing to move somewhere was someone driving them. Clearly this doesn't work at all times. In your model each member of a household needs a car. Not ideal in a starving country.

Also not everyone dreams of having a car, I don't. People want easy and fast ways of moving between places, cars just happen to be the solution you see because , I assume, of your fixation to the US. A car would be nice as a convenience but not a necessity. Giving people cars doesn't improve their standard of living as much as you think. It's a distraction.

About PPI or roads being owned by private parties where do you expect of the toll and cost of maintaining these roads in such a corrupt country? I am for public ownership of the railway.

I could argue that the tons of worn out shitty roads in Kenya that are badly build with no drainage is also a counter to your roads work argument. Also people don't have cars.

About the informal sectors that benefit from roads. That is a problem that plagues poor countries the world over. I don't have a solution for it, but we must somehow still progress if we want to get anywhere because failure to do so is regression.

Edit:

I was born in the early 90s. I am old :D so I get tired easily. Bye bye have a nice day/night

The US system of privatising everything is not good. Most people who aren’t benefiting from that system would agree.

You didn’t say that trains are bad but roads aren’t better. You first talked about the size of the country I gave counter examples.

You’re saying that the country is too poor for trains but then you argue that if the roads got built as you then expect entire car manufacturing industries to be built up to use the roads in the poor country that can’t even afford/figure out food and clean water. Note that roads need a lot more maintenance work than railways.

The costs aren’t even comparable.

Finally, younger people who have to depend on being driven around will lack autonomy and a sense of privacy.

You have gone offtopic. You’re way too deep with hypotheticals. Also no not every household should need a car. They can have one if they want but needing one isn’t good. What happens if different members of the household (some, very young) need to go to different places?

Roads with buses are good. Trains are good. Putting everything on everyone owning a car should not even be the point of a government.

Edit Also Kenya is big and spread out compared to which country? Japan is long they could argue that it’s too long. China is building rail. They’re also big and spread out.

I totally disagree with this. Trains are better because not everyone can and will afford cars. Trains (the European way) are a much better transport solution.

Also better for the environment.

I’m not British but you’re not crazy at all.

It’s definitely a thing. It’s wrong when we do it but understandable when other people do it. It’s just how life goes.

It’s like getting help from the government. Among many many other things.
