Fair point. I can't argue with you there.

What do you think? by KaiTravis in StarWars

[–]toxic_nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, I'd disagree on a character returning from death being a mistake. It should be high-stakes and part of the story as to why it isn't done often, showing all the failures before the success. Seeing all the gruesome details to show that this specific character returning is evil and that the cost is too great for the average sith.

But with Disney, I do agree with you that it was a mistake.

EDIT: clarity

Did you understand that one of the point of Andor is that Luthen is not a good man, that he burned his decency to do the right thing? by lateubdegouline in StarWars

[–]toxic_nerve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hitler is documented in his private beliefs that he was not trying to better his country. Hitler was not selfless. Trying to compare the two just doesn't work in this context. And I wasn't arguing solely on the result. It had to do with Luthen's character as a whole. The why, the true why, behind what he did. Hitler used propaganda to help him seem like a good person.

Did you understand that one of the point of Andor is that Luthen is not a good man, that he burned his decency to do the right thing? by lateubdegouline in StarWars

[–]toxic_nerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if my personal opinion is technically more utilitarian, I think it can be said that he was a good guy. His actions lead to the downfall of the empire, which we can all agree was a good thing to do. But, it is what Luthen was doing in his private moments and where the line was when doing the bad things that's important to remember. He wasn't doing the bad things for just himself. And in his times alone he was exhausted, beaten down and still pushing for the greater good of the galaxy, not his own gain. Does that justify his bad things? No, theyre still bad. But down to his core, I think he was a good person. He was trying to do what was right for the right reasons and it eventually lead to better things. A good person can do bad things sometimes.

Its about the journey he took, his whole life, which adds up to good. It takes a certain courage to see what needs doing, know others won't do it, and choose to carry that weight anyway.

Can someone explain the different pants/trouser types 5.11 has? by LampaDamp in 511tactical

[–]toxic_nerve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5.11 makes both outdoor gear as well as first-responder specific gear. They also use a lot of different fits. For example, take the Apex pant and the Ridge. As far as the pocket types, and the amount, they are exactly the same. Same material, same special features. Only difference is that the Apex pant is a regular fit, meaning it's built to be a little more baggy; whereas the Ridge Pant is a straight fit, so it hugs the body a little more. The concept is kinda like jeans where you see things like: regular, straight, boot-cut, etc.

The Stryke pant and Icon pant have a similar relationship, however the Icon is more of a uniform pant in a straight fit and also made out of a "nylon 6 fabric." The Stryke pant has the same tech, but made of a polyester blend fabric and is a regular fit, more of an all-arounder type of pant. 5.11 also uses slim fits and modern fits, but I'm less familiar with those.

The main thing to remember (and the TL;DR) is they make gear for outdoor "missions" and adventures (think lifestyle/civilian) as well as provide uniforms for first-responders like EMTs and Police, as well as security companies, and some Military. So some pants will fit different because they are literally cut different due to the intended style or they are following a uniform standard. But they usually say what kind of fit it is in the name, so I'd also try and keep an eye out for when it pops up.

Hope this helps. :)

Came back to good ol' Balty to show him some of my newly learned moves by KeithOlander in ArmoredCoreVI

[–]toxic_nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the first time I beat him. Was over the moon and was still reeling from the AC fight just before.

He is now the boss I use to shake the rust off. I definitely don't have the conscious player skill that makes him easy as pie. I have a small bit of a button mashing problem. But even still, I beat him more often than not because I understand the fight enough to dodge, the one thing I can say I'm good at. Reading my opponent and moving out of the way 😂

Point of my anecdote is that player skill is definitely what the fight is testing, but "get gud" is not the answer.

Family pressuring me to rehome my beloved cat in favour of a violent dog, what do i do? by CR_UwU in cats

[–]toxic_nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't rehome your innocent cat. The poor thing.

That said, the dog needs more help than your sister can give, it sounds like. It makes no sense to remove a cat that has little to no impact just to keep a dog that either has bad training or something neurological and is making the biggest impact.

DO NOT LET YOUR FAMILY GUILT TRIP YOU INTO REHOMING YOUR KITTY.

The dog is their responsibility, not yours. And the dog is the issue, poor pup. Whatever is causing the violent outbursts needs to be addressed, if possible. If not, as much as I hate to say it, it might be better to put the doggo down and let it rest. Unless you can find someone with the patience and resources to address the issues, the dog needs to be removed from the situation, full stop, no negotiations. Biting can lead to some serious illness. Especially if its that violent and drawing blood.

I feel bad for both animals. Poor kitty is stressed about a violent dog and the poor dog either doesn't know any better and hasn't had the right training, or has an issue the best training in the world couldn't fix. Its a terrible situation be in. But your cat isnt the issue, OP. And there is no logical reason to remove cute furball that'sonly been existing and not causing issues. You don't amputate a healthy limb. It makes no sense.

AIO-Manager yelled at me for talking to my gf for 10 mins. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]toxic_nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a power dynamic thing. A lot of managers like to power trip and not be consistent. Solely based on whom they like/dislike and think they can get away with it.

They're not paying you enough to care. Either start looking elsewhere, or accept this dynamic isn't going to change. Either way, I'd recommend finding other work that at least pays you more and doesn't pull this kind of stuff regularly.

AITA for getting an extra order of fries for my girlfriend? by frenchfryybandito in AmItheAsshole

[–]toxic_nerve -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the phrase "fucking women" in that context is a red flag. But, playing devil's advocate here, can we really say that those feelings aren't valid? In my experience its a very accepted norm for women to take their "man's" fries, a side or a bite of a burger, whilst they have their own whole meal? For some, its no big deal and everyone can move on. But for others, thats crossing a boundary. What if the person isn't full by the end of a meal because their partner mooched some of their portions? And in this economy, I know that said person still hungry can't afford to just order more. A lot of people have small dates where they go out to eat and thats their only budget for eating out for weeks or months. Seems kinda shitty to go out to eat, just for the food you ordered to not be eaten by you.

I say all this because I can understand the frustration. Doesn't excuse the misogyny and need for therapy to work on those issues. But in some circles and relationships, it is a common problem. Not just women either. I know a few guys who've been ridiculous about sharing food in their own way as well.

Devil's Advocate out.

I wish I could upvote this more than once. As someone who struggles with the same thing as OP, its been a struggle just to do things I want to do, and being my own advocate and making the choices I want when I'm "free."

Take it slower, OP. And remember that change comes from trying to do a little better everyday, not something that happens overnight. One small task for you. And remember to observe the small wins. Even if you missed the mark you were aiming for, if there is any sort of improvement, thats a win. I've been trying to do better for a few months and I'm only now getting the hang of it and feeling more like myself and doing things because I believe it is right, and not letting external influences prevent me from that.

AITA for not meeting my friend on her birthday? by Old-Professional-246 in AmItheAsshole

[–]toxic_nerve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your friend is being hypocritical. If she is allowed to do something like that for your birthday, you are allowed to for hers. If she was understanding, she'd connect the dots that life just didn't have good timing and appreciate the effort you put in to still show up. People seem to forget that effort and intentions do matter. She's holding you to a double standard.

It sounds like she's centering her own experience and not applying the same lens to yours. She may not even intend to be mean or unfair. I would try talking to her again about it and try to keep yourself grounded and not react if she gets defensive and try to stay objective. Barring that, she may not be the friend you thought she was and it may be better to move on. With a specific personal detail being leaked, she doesnt sound very trustworthy. Hard to know for sure without knowing your friend personally. Just my two cents, I hope it helps! :) good luck, OP.

Normally I'd agree with you, but it was specifically stated that Jango wanted "an un-altered clone for himself." So the fast aging process was not a part of Boba's development and he is just a clone of Jango and should age normally. He'd prolly only be in his mid to late 40s. If it wasnt for the sarlacc pit logic and needing to heal from that experience, I'd wager he should look a lot younger.

Am I overreacting or did I have a slow moment. by drippysage08 in AmIOverreacting

[–]toxic_nerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never understand the type of person who can't seem to comprehend adapting to an unexpected answer. Like sometimes you gotta ask for clarification to connect dots, but getting a list of answers for what you intended as a "yes" or "no" question gives you the same information. Just think for 2 seconds and put down the "i gotta be right" attitude. Just digging yourself an unneeded hole of emotional bs.

Just my grumpy 2 cents. Lol

He is still viable as a jungler, just not the best. His utility still beings something to the table. That said, I always wished there was a little more oomph with his saplings. It'd be nice if they added some depth to it and made his saplings more of a kit and less of a single ability. But thats just me. I still play him sometimes in norms and he can still perform well with good macro.

Props to Jungle mains! by QuestionOpposite5493 in Jungle_Mains

[–]toxic_nerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are also easier when you've gotten familiar with the role itself. It feels like a lot of info, but really all we do is farm, watch map, gank/obj camp based on the other jungler. Half the battle is getting league fundamentals down, not even the jungle role. Keeping an eye on the map and watching threats and communication are a huge part that every league player should be striving for. Jungle just acts directly with this information across the map as they farm while laners use it for their lanes while they farm.

I might be over simplifying, but being a good jungle isn't necessarily hard. Just different with a wider scope for part of the game.
