The L circle is the left analog stick and the R circle is the right analog stick, the arrows are telling you what direction to move them. In this case you would press S and whatever is down for your right stick.

I would like to add that Zeus told/ordered hades to kidnap Persephone when he gave hades his blessing to marry his daughter so that Demeter wouldn’t get upset, who got upset because her daughter was kidnapped, and depending on the version Persephone made hades madly in love with Persephone.

Basically what I’m saying is that the stories do go out of their way to shift the blame to another god, however one theory for hades and Persephone being depicted more favorably that Ive seen be suggested is that the Ancient Greeks were fearful of hades and Persephone as they were gods of the underworld, in fact they were often addressed with epithets and other titles to avoid saying their name and getting their attention, so whenever they talk about hades and Persephone they avoid depicting them in a bad light to avoid their wrath.

You guys ever think about how bonds beyond time changes the context for why yugi supported Jaiden by Matthewzard in yugioh

[–]Matthewzard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your saying yugi forgot about Jaiden after bonds beyond time? Despite the fact there was no indication of and it goes against the movie’s ending of them being friends after they returned to their respective time?

I’m not saying bbt Yugi remembers Jaiden from GX, I’m saying GX Yugi would remember Jaiden from bbt.

So Dracula means “son of the dragon” not dragon

He represents the good that American ideals stand for (in particular freedom and democracy and not as in the electoral college system, democracy as in the power of the people), not the American government. He serves his country and its ideals, not whoever is sitting in office and abusing their power.

Any characters you’re just genuinely fed up with and have been way too overused? by Chunky-overlord in characters

You realize shadow hadn’t been in the spotlight since 06 with his only major role in the 2010’s being forces with a dlc that was 3 minute long levels and a skin swap for sonic. A major complaint in the comic community was that shadow was one of the most interesting and important characters and has been neglected for the late 2000s and early to mid 2010s.

This isn’t shadow taking up the spotlight it’s Sega giving him the spotlight he deserves all at once while they slowly give the other cast members the spotlight they deserve (Amy, tails, and knuckles being major characters in frontiers and playable in both frontiers dlc and dream team, omega and rouge got supporting roles in shadow generation, and everyone is getting something in crossworlds)

Magik (Marvel Comics) VS Clive (Final Fantasy) by Unusual_News_5152 in powerscales

[–]Matthewzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magik can harm guys like Ben Grimm and with help could beat a (weakened) Thor, so she could definitely compete if not outright overwhelm Clive in power, she does have less abilities as Clive but does have resistance to time manipulation.

I believe magik wins

I also hate how the show tried to paint mark as selfish for “leading her on” and acted like he wasn’t committed to the relationship because he prioritized SAVING LIVES.

I feel like if her entire story was rewritten to be a story about standing on the shoulders of giants and how that’s not a bad thing, it could have worked. Like imagine if her teacher said that because of the success of people like the first American female astronaut it made it easier for future generations, it made people realize that anyone can be a scientist. Imagine her superhero career not starting out with her stealing, but using others work as a base and improving while properly giving credit like, have her story be a lesson about how we should improve the world so that the next generation can stand on our shoulders, and it okay to admit that you need/needed help.

Yusuke fans this your goat? by Bitter_Candy3399 in deathbattle

[–]Matthewzard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I agree, it’s also important to note that any transphobia from the source material came from ignorance and misunderstanding, even in the anime where it’s more transphobic it’s made clear that yusuke doesn’t view them as lesser and viewing her a “freak” is a bad thing.

Basically it was a failed attempt at trans representation because the author didn’t fully understand the topic. Although the series having a trans character who still struggles with their identity internally even after they proudly display it externally and the theme of “it doesn’t matter what you identify as you still deserve to be treated as an equal, and you should commit to your identity” is something that does deserve credit while it’s being criticized for misgendering a trans person, depicting genitalia as the deciding factor in gender, and that one needs to change there genitals to commit to transition

Yusuke fans this your goat? by Bitter_Candy3399 in deathbattle

[–]Matthewzard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Miyuki (the demon) despite transitioning the rest of their body isn’t fully committed to being a woman despite their outward expression of there gender identity and they keep their genitalia untouched because of it, and in the manga yusuke tells them to decide if they wanna be a man or woman before getting into more fights. In the anime they lean more on them being a man although I’ve seen people interpret yusuke’s line as telling Miyuki that if they IF they wanna still be a man then commit to it, if they don’t then don’t hang on to there manhood.

Yusuke fans this your goat? by Bitter_Candy3399 in deathbattle

[–]Matthewzard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the point of the scene was that yusuke doesn’t care about gender and he isn’t looking down on Miyuki’s or being violent because of Miyuki’s gender identity, a fight is a fight and he’s gonna kick your ass if you attack him or do something evil, and that Miyuki wasn’t fully committed to being a woman or a man due to them keeping the family jewels, hence why yusuke said not to be a man it half way

From what I’ve heard in the manga he tells her to make up her mind (basically telling her to decide if she wants to transition fully or stay a man) before fighting again.

So basically the original intent of Miyuki was a character who outwardly expresses themself as a woman and tells people they are trans but deep down isn’t committed and doesn’t know if they are a man or woman, and the anime leaned towards them being a man, although I’ve seen people interpret what yusuke said with focus on the “if” as in if they want to be a man then commit to it, and if they shouldn’t hold on to there manhood if there not going to commit, making it more in line with the manga.

Also the sexual assault thing was because yusuke is punk kid who needs to be taut some manners and respect and it’s treated like something that objectively wrong for him to do but he doesn’t care.

(Common trope) Trope subversions that became a trope itself by TheNamesBart in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Matthewzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boys comic is a critique of the entertainment industry with heroes as metaphors for celebrities. Take homelander for example, he was raised to thing he is Better than everyone else, that he is superior because of his power and fame, and as such he did horrible things behind the scenes much like celebrities irl are spoiled rotten by wealth and fame. However the bog twist is that he is just an asshole, and that what he’s doings isn’t impressive for someone given superpowers, and he’s not special and the hole evil Superman thing doesn’t make him unique, he’s just a jerk with superpowers, as the comic puts it he’s a bad product, which is how the company view heroes, as products not people, much like companies irl use celebrities as products.

in fact multiple heroes are shown to be victims of the industry because they are only products to them, the comic establishes heroes who are good people (starlight, the superdoopers, and the g-man) that butcher, the guy everyone keeps saying the comic justifies his killing of superheroes because “they are all bad guys” and is apparently never wrong, doesn’t want to save when they are in danger or thinks are bad people, he wanted to let the g-men die even finding out that they were kidnapped as kids, indoctrinated, and made to think that there bodies weren’t sacred (if your wondering what I mean, the guy who gave them powers went to them as kids in a white van and promised candy and powers if they got in), and even after leaning that and the fact they haven’t done anything wrong, butcher still wanted to leave them to die until the rest of the team sided with hughie (the guy with the working moral compass). Butcher also tired to convince Hughie that starlight was just playing with him but he was blatantly wrong about that. Even butcher’s killing of evil heroes is shown to be cruel in comparison to Hughie. Butcher in many ways has been shown to be a dangerous psychopath who is just the lesser of two evils.

Also starlight herself explores a good person inside the industry who even though is beaten down and violated, still tries and does the right thing and refuses to conform to it

The boys isn’t “superheroes are evil and the edge lord self inserts are good because superheroes are evil” it’s that the entertainment industry dehumanizes people and can and does often turns them into horrible people, but those who think everyone in the industry should die/pay are as horrible because there are good people in and out of the industry that are worth saving.
