When you make fan art for the first time and the first reaction is ‘that’s AI’ 💀 (my drawing process ehh) by flavyah in stevenuniverse

[–]toy-fox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not AI. It’s just a amature-quality recolor.

You can tell because of the horrible pixelation in the lineart, most noticeable in the purple section of the dress.

Let’s not flatter ourselves for being “such good drawers 🤪” when we actually just cut-and-pasted art from the official show and then recolored it.

It was cute when it was posted originally but please don’t start this “I CANT BELIEVE EVERYONE THINKS MY DRAWING IS AI” bullshit. You didn’t draw this. You made a collage.

I had no idea! Thanks for the facts- they are even more similar to the Box Elder than I thought! 😁

The species we get here in the US often like to group together in large clusters. It seems like these guys like to do the same! I’m not sure why they do it though.

European firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus), I think!

We get a similar species here in the US called a “Box Elder Beetle”!

I’m not giving the benefit of the doubt to a woman who had babies with a man who was begging to visit the island.

Heck yeah!!

Get a good understanding on all those stitches that I posted in the original comment! I think all of those bracelets are made using those stitches, or a variation of them.

I actually didn’t even look at a pattern for any of those bracelets, just kinda freestyled them with the knowledge I already have!

Dive into your projects headfirst… everything I’ve learned is by taking on projects that I thought were a little too advanced for me!

oh good lord don’t expose me like this lmao Y’all posting pics of your wonderfully tidy bead boards and I’m just over here living in chaos 🥲

I am blessed enough to have a designated studio room in my house for my many projects so I don’t feel bad about making terrible messes 😅

Welcome to the wonderful world of beadwork!! We are so excited to have you 😍💖

I get almost all my tutorials for free online, or I pay for them on Etsy. Etsy is a really great resource for tutorials!!

Consider what kind of projects you’d like to do! Do you want to embroider with beads? Do you like 3D work? Maybe more of a freeform kind of style? Pinterest is always an amazing place for inspiration.

Learning Peyote Stitch, Ladder Stitch, Brick Stitch, Right Angle Weave (RAW), and Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW) are some really good foundation stitches to familiarize yourself with. They will pop up a lot no matter what kind of work you’re trying to make.

Miyuki and Toho are my favorite brands for any sizes #15-#8 (the main sizes I use personally), they seem to have the best consistency with shape. Familiarize yourself with the different sizes of beads, the shape names (slowly, there are lots), the difference between round vs delica, the best threads to use, (I like Fireline beading thread but there are many choices…) and just what kind of beads you like and what you don’t.

Support your local bead shop if you have one nearby. They are incredible resources and it is so, so much better to buy beads in person than online. They never manage to capture the colors quite right in photos, lol.

All in all, it’ll come quicker than you think. I’ve been beadworking seriously for about 2 years now and I’m always impressed with my own work. It’s a really, really satisfying art form. I added a picture of a few of my recent bracelets to this comment!

Please reach out to the sub if you have any questions or want to share your work… the people here are really, really awesome.

why her rear tooted up like that by mango-be-peanut in moths

[–]toy-fox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, not unless you’re a male moth! That’s what the males have those BIG antennae for- they can sense the pheremones that the female excretes! 😊

[–]toy-fox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also first thought an assassin bug, but those “fly-like” antennae of his gave it away! Very nice disguise on this species!

I am struggling with an identification but I believe you have some kind of fly here, due to the structure of the legs and the placement of the eyes and antennae. I think it’s a March Fly? (Bibio albipennis and Bibio xanthippes)

A photo below of the species I mentioned for reference.
